My classic recipe makes a 1 liter solution and should be used immediately. To begin you will need the following ingredients:
Pour the soap into your spray bottle, add hot water, and slowly add in the neem oil. Seal up the bottle tightly and agitate to ensure a good mix. The first application should be applied heavily, stating from top and working your way down. Be sure to get the undersides of the leaves as well. You may also use the remaining solution as a soil and root drench.
This classic formula works best when applied once every other week. To turn this into an Ultra-Kill formula, lightly dust plants with food grade Diatomaceous Earth immediately after spraying. I have been using these formulas for years. I find they are extremely effective against spider mites, thrips, ants, earwigs, grasshoppers, slugs, and hornworms.
For a No-Kill formula replace insecticidal soap with a mild detergent like Dawn dish soap. The No-Kill formula is recommended for those that are introducing beneficial insects such as Lady Bugs or have an active bee population nearby. It will not kill these or large pest, but will kill smaller pests by suffocation.
