UCDWC/RDWC Design Help... Do you think this system will work?

Hey Guys Im new to the forum and new to growing, i have a couple THC bomb plants 5 weeks into veg in bubble buckets that i just moved to a new grow tent that's 6x6x6, I plan to build a DIY UCDWC/RDWC and for the sake of space, i was wondering if this setup would work? let me know all adivice is good advice,

not the greatest diagram but you get the idea will it work though? thanks guys!:joint:

in my experience anytime you have a system like that you increase the risk of flooding your shit. I recirculate every 2 hours using a cap ebb monster control bucket and big ass igloo coolers as grow chambers(they're active with sprayers and water pump) , my main res is in another room on a chiller. the control bucket either drains or fills the igloo coolers, after the control bucket nothing but gravity is involved with the movement of water therefore lessening the risk of flooding your shit

Sounds pretty nice, so what do you suggest? the only reason i have to buckets setup up in this fashion is because i do not have enough room to add the 2 buckets on the end, and ill be using uniseals and 2 inch pvc.

I'm really not familiar with this type of system but was wondering if you have a chiller? water pumps do add heat to water, dunno how much from an inline one but submerged ones heat up pretty good if not cycled.

I do not have one right now but ill have one seen and instead of another bucket as the Res/control im probably going to use a cooler for that reason to help control temps a little easier until i do get one.

depending on how many buckets you're looking at you might wanna check out an ice probe, they're like 120 dollars, I can't remember all the details but for someone running a small system (although your diagram looks to contain lots of water, careful of the flooding) . Igloo coolers are the way to go, you can even cool them down by tossing in a blue ice every day or two. I know your thread isn't about cooling the water but I thought I'd mention it.

its cool, and yea thats what i had planned to do, i had to move from the attic to a grow tent cause temps were just ridiculous surprised my one plant lived through it, it was getting up to 106f in there with that water just as hot probly, but now that its in the new spot with A/c and decent ventialtion it stays pretty cool in there, and what do you mean flooding like roots clogging pipe or what?

yeah, I worry about roots clogging the pipe but its pretty hard to totally clog 2 inch pipe I'd think, but partial clogging and you've got possible water back up .

Yea i know what you mean thats the reason im goin with the 2 inch in the first place, but hopefully itll be alright, as far as physics wise and water flow it should work out right? i dont see why it wouldnt i just wanted to get some experienced growers opinion

I believe that's how they make them but don't really know, I kinda wanted one of those pre-built systems but just saw too much room for flooding my shit, this ebb controller and the igloo coolers is working out well for me so I think I'll stick with it. Your diagram seems accurate but details will also need to be looked at like the size of the pump, personally I'm done building systems and am happy with my current system even though I wanted to do it a little different ( I had an issue with pumping water and gravity not working out). so did you get your username from pick of destiny???

I would not put the two grow buckets in the middle. 2'x3' grow area per plant sounds much better.

Happy growing
UCDWC~
