It's not a regime change.
California very shortly will be the #1 pot spot of the world, flamboyantly!
You see, with the introduction of medical marijuana into society there have been no downside except federal prosecution.
There has been no peak in crime or accidents from cannabis junkies.
Cannabis is an estimated $14 billion industry in California alone.
Trust me, I'm knuckle deep.
That is not including Cannabis's many other applications.
Like textile!
You see the real motive here is nothing but the all mighty dollar bill $.
If you take the time to read the bill yourself, AB390
is worded in such to stress cannabis's market potential.
Obama literally just gave the O.K. .....?
How did he do that? You ask, I'm sure.
Read the bill ... otherwise worded it says that, we will only do this if the dea backs off.
Then like 48hours later you get the Attorney General up there proclaiming a halt.
Put 2 & 2 together, tell me what you get?

say... u might got somthin there!

but what about arnold?

Actually the first article was last month and the others are dated on the 5th of this month, lol.
Also they will raid whoever they like and say that their was evidence of whatever they like.
They ignore your own president,in the words of your own norml director, and do what they like, they are a power unto themselves.
You seem to have the illusion of freedom confused with actual freedom.
Dont get me wrong i truly hope that the DEA will curl up and die but dont let the wool get pulled over your eyesbongsmilie
go tell norml that, they printed the article. you can't refer to them then oppose their view. it's conflicting. :-| :?
and try to keep up. :)

I totally believe that the DEA got those last raids in because they knew change was coming quick!

Yeah hopefully things will change, maybe it was one last kick at the can by the DEA, Maybe they could see the changes coming and quickly raided what they could while they could without "dis-obeying".
If this bill passes congress and if Arnold does not veto it and the bill becomes law ... then my friends we have just given birth to a new Amsterdam!!! This will revolutionize the world if all of it goes to plan. I think obama did give the Okay.

I know for fact that NORML has had some play with this bill!!! I was at a national convention last weekend when the NORML director stood up in front of us and announced that California would introduce a bill to outright legalize marijuana. I came home and checked the NORML for several days and came to the conclusion that i was so fuckin high that i drempt that whole weekend up. Nope, I was wrong! THAT WAS REALITY AND WE ARE GIVING BIRTH TO A NEW AMSTERDAMN WOOOOHOOOOO!!!!!!!!

California: Assemblyman Introduces Measure To Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol
Proposal Will Raise Over $1.3 Billion Per Year, State's Tax Collection Agency Says

San Francisco: State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano (D-San Francisco) introduced legislation this week to legalize and regulate the commercial production and sale of cannabis for adults age 21 or over. The proposal – Assembly Bill 390: The Marijuana Control, Regulation and Education Act – is the first bill ever to be introduced in the California legislature that seeks to tax and control the sale of cannabis.
Ammiano introduced AB 390 at a press conference Monday. Joining the assemblyman in support of the measure were Betty Yee, Chairwoman of the California Board of Equalization (Taxation), Oakland City Council member Rebecca Kaplan, Orange County Superior Court Judge James P. Gray (retired), and Dale Gieringer, Coordinator of California NORML, which provided legislative text and financial analysis for the bill.
"With the state in the midst of an historic economic crisis, the move toward regulating and taxing marijuana is simply common sense," Ammiano said. "This legislation would generate much needed revenue for the state, restrict access to only those over 21, end the environmental damage to our public lands from illicit crops, and improve public safety by redirecting law enforcement efforts to more serious crimes. California has the opportunity to be the first state in the nation to enact a smart, responsible public policy for the control and regulation of marijuana."
Local news anchors from CBS, ABC, NBC, and PBS television covered the press conference. National stories regarding Ammiano's bill have appeared in USA Today, as well as on Air America and CNN.
As introduced, AB 390 would raise over $1.3 billion in annual revenue by taxing the retail production and sale of marijuana, according to financial estimates provided by the California Board of Equalization. An economic analysis by California NORML estimates that a legal, statewide retail market for cannabis could generate additional revenues totaling some $12 to $18 billion dollars per year.
The noncommercial cultivation of marijuana for personal use – defined as ten plants or fewer – would not be subject to taxation under the proposal. In addition, AB 390 would not alter existing legislation on the use of medicinal cannabis, nor would it impose new taxes or sanctions on the medical cultivation of cannabis.
A recent Zogby poll of 1,053 likely voters, commissioned by California NORML and Oaksterdam University, reported that nearly six out of ten respondents on the west coast favor taxing and legally regulating cannabis like alcohol.
"This bill is a winning proposition for California taxpayers," Gieringer said. "It's time that California stops wasting resources trying to enforce marijuana prohibition, and instead realizes the tax benefits derived from a legal, regulated cannabis market."

i'll cross my fingers for cali to legalize it...

but until then, i'm w/ Natmoon... there are hundreds of thousands of people in prison that, in my mind, have done no wrong. I just a read an article in the paper yesterday... just an article among other articles, Here is the 'gist' of it:

3 cops get a bogus tip from a known drug dealer. The falsify some documents to get a No-Knock warrant, where they don't even have to identifiy themselves, they just start to break into your home. The home belonged to a 92 year old woman in Atlanta. She got off one shot through the door from a rusty revolver (having no idea who was breaking in). The three cops unloaded 39 bullets into the door, her home, and her. They then went inside and saw what a big fuk up they were in. So they go around the house and start planting baggies of marijuana to make it look like a drug house !!! If police planting evidence isn't a felony, it sure as hell should be. And someone died during the commision of this felony - that means its a capital murder offense. They got caught... 2 'cooperated' and admitted what happened after caught and the third guy didn't cooperate. For Falsifying documents to get a warrant, Breaking and Entering, Murdering a 92 year old woman in Cold Blood, and then Planting Evidence ... one man will serve 5 years, the other 6 years, and the uncooperative guy 10 years in a Federal penitentiary. If she would of actually been growing weed in that house she could go away for 10+ years for self-medicating glaucome or arthritis ... to that same penitentiary. They murdered her in COLD BLOOD and will be out in 5.

This is the kind of shit that happens every day in america. Child Rapists are getting out in 2 years or off on probation when 'weed crimes' are getting federal mandatory minimums.

:wall:

Obama clearly, carefully and slowly states for all that want to really listen instead of only hearing what they want to hear "We wont be allowing people to "grow their own" or set up mom and pop shops"
Unless you have cancer, aids or glaucoma etc... you will not get federally approved for medical mj.

Any one caught growing their own, smoking it or using a non federal approved doctor or federally approved taxed and licensed mj dispensary will be dealt with as or more harshly than ever before.
This is not a victory for growers or tokers as nothing has changed except the fact that we will be prosecuted even more harshly.

Instead of wasting your time attacking me for "raining on your parade" try supporting Charlie Lynch or one of the other hundreds of people currently looking at up to 100 years in jail for having a medical dispensary.
Try to remember that many of the people here don't really want mj legal as they are making a small fortune from prohibition, many of them openly admit it,many do not.

I only offer the truth as shitty as it may taste:leaf:

That Drew Carey video made me cry. Chemo killed my mother, but it didn't kill her fast, it killed her really slow off and on over the course of 10 years. It was the worst kind of torture imaginable. I watched this torture from the time I was 7 years old until I was 17 when she died. At the time of her death she looked like skin stretched tight over a skeleton. I'd love to sue the federal and state governments for murdering my mother through their stupidity.

I have also wondered if weed ever gets legalized if people who are incarcerated for non-violent weed offenses will get released.

I also wonder if those marijuana charges will be taken off their records? What about people who aren't in prison but have a bullshit possession of a pipe charge or crap like that, will those go away too?
