Tying Down Vs. Super Cropping?

Yea. On the real hot days I pull up all the walls of my greenhouse and really let the cool air in. I can usually maintain a 82 temp during these times but man, the girls sure love it

the plants hardly growing taller its just gettin extremely fat and the main stalk / stem looks pretty trippy watching it come up and then bend at like 90 degree angles with fat knots

Tie down vs super cropping? After reading the beginning of your thread, its appearant there is no 'best way' to do it since all these "growers" have different experiences. I do a little of both on each plant. In the early days of veg...I bent over the main stalk to expose lower branches to more light. I will then tie down lower branches. The concept being...as it grows up...looking down on the plant, it should resemble a wreath. Nice tops will be on the outside and secondary buds will fill the middle of the wreath. There is a need to support the buds...imagine a lollipop. I make a net and use bamboo skewers for this.
To me...it makes sense. I believe you will find it will become a "preference" rather than "the best". Good luck!

theres a big difference between tying down and supercropping. When you tie down, you simply bringing the top of that branch down exposing the inner nodes to more light. supercrop you bend the branch with redirects hormones to those lower nodes.
So the main difference is: supper cropping redirects hormones to lower node sites and gives them more light
Tying simply moves the top of the branch back, exposing more light.

Heres a good example of TyingView attachment 1684631 you can see that those inner nodes are receiving more light. Before they were completely shaded
I'll respectfully disagree, unless i misunderstood what Kev was getting at. Tying the main/top branch down DOES redirect growth hormones to the highest up growth. I tied my main stalk down on multiple plants, it stimulates multiple tops.

very nice how tall did they get...glennid10t
In my situation, height is an issue. I try to keep each under 3 feet from the bucket top. I enjoy the "ring of tops" and by training inner buds to grow up through the center, I maximize light exposure, and end up with probably...90% good big bud.

This pic is basically looking down on one plant...a couple days before harvest.

Here is a little bondage experiment I am at day 53 of flower on.
There are 16 limb tip colas, 2 main colas and 2-4 little xmas trees on each limb.
This plant started out as a OG Kush clone that I cut from the top of a very healthy mom.
-I made my my 45 cut apx. 1" below the lowest node. Applied Root Tech and inserted in a Jiffy Cube to root.
-Leaving a very low... so low of a branch in fact that you get a knarled-up looking V root at the soil line.
-You'll want to super crop the taller side as soon as you get roots on the clone.
-Let her stretch out in veg!
-Re-pot and and lay a bamboo pole over the pot and tie it down.
-As Leon Redbone would "KINDA" say, I put one limb over my shoulder, I put a two limb over my shoulder and I go a M,M,M,M,M....Sorry! Stretch the limbs right and left and tie them down!
- the rest is up to you!Somewhere N Z Middle.jpgLeft End.jpgTop.jpgRight End.jpg

Here is a little FYI on a great tool I make for plant bondage. The pics speak for themselves!

I had always seen these bread bag tie rolls with the little cutter attached and thought "Those have to be good for many other things". Well... here is one of them! Oh yeah! The the same goes for the little hair clamps in the picture. Dollar store for a $1 and they have 3 sizes!
Make sure you get the bread tie is behind the little extra set of teeth. this will keep the wire from keep the claw from closing.
Put one on each end of a 6" piece and tie a long tie in the middle to make a double claw hanger! You could put claws on both ends and just twist the center until you have the right length also. Many possibilities. Sorry the pics are out of order! Enjoy!
