I have 2 plants that are showing two different signs of serious problems.
They are both Aurora Borealis Autos in their 6th week of flower
They are in Fox farms Happy frog soil.
I've been using Build a soil, craft blend, build a flower, build a bloom, worm castings and organic molasses.
I use a Mars hydro TS 2000 in a 2x4 Gorilla tent with 3 gal. cloth pots.
I'm on Well water.
My PH in comes out higher in the run off.
I want my PH to be around 6.5 to 6.7, So lately I have to go in at 6.0 to get a run off of 6.5 to 6.6.
I water every other day when it is dry.
Tent temperature is around 78f and RH is around 50%
The light is 16 inches away from the top of the plants.
There is great circulation in the tent.

Plant #1
I started out with brown spots on older lower leaves, so I thought it was a Cal/Mg deficiency.
I added Cal/Mg but I did not clear up the problem.
I have done flushes to start over thinking I may have a lockout issue, and then I tried to build the soil back up.
But that didn't work.
I think my plants should smell a lot more but they don't so I am thinking it may be a potassium issue, But I've been using build a flower and I still have no luck.
No it's gone from bad to worse.
I used some molasses to feed the microbes last night and I woke up to issues with all of my leaves spotting out like I never seen before.
The first set of photos are from plant #1

Plant #2
She is lighter in color and the very top leaves of all the buds looks like they are burning.
It started of with the main kola's top leaves.
Now it looks like it's spreading to all of the buds main top leaves.
The second set of photos are from plant #2

I know there are a lot of great growers on this site that can point a new grower in the right direction.
Any help and advice will be greatly appreciated.

Wow, looks like youve gone through the extent of my knowledge. Did you try to foliar spray the calmag solution? If you have any sort of root problem or for any reason they arent working to their full capabilities that might deliver it better and may see a change

l had ph meter screw up and was feeding very low ph, plants look same as yours with necro spots and leaf burn, almost yellow and brown spots. Purple colour too. Might want to callibrate ph pen. Just to make sure thats not your problem too. Look so close its almost scary. Good luck and hope they hold out till very end.

Thanks for the response Southernontario Grower.
I use a Blue pen, I will recalibrate it again and see if that helps.

Thanks for the well wishes, I do appreciate that very much.

No problem, was happy to see someone going through same shit as me. My pen was 3 points out so 6.5 was really 3.5 not good for them. And l give 5.4 ph once a week so almost acid when really 2.4ph back to liquid testing, using drops. It takes a minute longer but well worth it. Grew complacent with ph pen. Wont do that again.

Northern Lights are always prone to a magnesium deficiency! Why I say you have a major magnesium deficiency, because there are only (2) places that a plant can pull mag from. (1) is from the root zone, and (2) is from lower leafs when it can't find enough in the root zone. So when you have a magnesium deficiency, it starts in the lower leaves because if there isn't enough magnesium in the soil, the plant moves whatever magnesium is in lower leaves to new growth upper leaves, which makes those lower leaves begin to spot up, and ultimately dry out! And that will continue to happen all the way up the plant if not enough magnesium is in the root zone! Anyhow... use 1 teaspoon of epsom salt per (1) gallon of water or feed to help your babies out!

Was that all it took to fix your problem? How long did it take for your plants to come around?

Thank you for the response Piratebug.
I'm going to go pick up some right now and use it for tonight's feeding.
Hopefully that will help.

This pen takes eternity to get stable readings. It works faster when you put it into solution turned off, wait like 15s and than turn on. Than stir and wait long enough to be sure it not gonna drop or rise another 3 decimals or so. When you calibrate do the same way as well! BTW how much pH down you need to use? Runoff values are inaccurate, root zone pH is what metters. I do not know your medium, it is most likely soil from my understanding so you should not be suppose to dick around pH values since microbes do this job for you. I can be wrong here thou.

My soil is Fox farms Happy Frog
I think I may have been going in to low with the PH for the last 2 weeks.
I was measuring at run off and I was trying to compensate for the difference..
So I was going in at 5.8 to get a 6.5 in run off.
I think that was a big mistake on my part.
I only started measuring my run off in the last 2 weeks or so.
Prior to that I would just go in between 6.5 to 6.8 and I didn't have the big mess I have now.
I did notice so MG deficiency starting that is why I started to check the run off.
I thought I was having a lock out issue.
I should have just left it alone and added Epsom salt at that time, but I adjusted the ph instead and wrecked everything.
Leeson learned.

I have the pen calibrated and I'm going in straight at 6.5
My well water is 7.8 with a ppm of 241 so it takes a good squirt to get it down to 6.5
I let the pen rest in the water for awhile to get and accurate reading.
Last night I put 1 teaspoon of Epsom salt into 1 gallon of water ph'd at 6.5
I'm going to do this again tonight when they get up.

This is my first indoor grow and I new it would come with growing pains and tough lessons.
Everything I learn will make the next grow that much better.

Once these girls get pulled I will be going right back in for another go.

Thank for all of your help.

I have same problem, look https://www.rollitup.org/t/please-help-started-as-rust-spots-now-this.1054401/
Is it burn from nitrogen? Too much ?
Thank you for the response Theneongrow.
Wow! Our plants look identical.
I hate to see that you are going thru the same thing that I am, but at least you can take solace in the fact that you are not alone in your struggles.
I'm a newbie grower just like yourself so I understand the concern and frustration.

So far I have been told it was to much Nitrogen, and that I had a Magnesium deficiency.
It seems that the general consensus is that I have MG deficiency.
The member that said I had a Nitrogen burn said it was to late to solve that issue.
So I am just focusing on the MG deficiency.
So I recalibrated my pen and started feeding Epsom salt.
I also raised my lights a little.
I am just going to keep feeding just H20 and Epsom salt for now and see what happens.
I should have enough food in my soil to cover the other bases.
I should have had about another 3 weeks for this grow.
So for now I am just going to get thru the best I can and I am already planning for the next grow.

I wish you the best of luck.
Don't let it get you down.
Just learn from it and plan for the next one to be better.
We have all skinned out knees learning to ride a bike.
And we have all burned some food learning to cook a meal.
This is no different.
We will learn from this and be better growers for this lesson.

Best wishes to you, hope it all works out.
