Two HO T5's +400w hps or 1000w?

Alright so I have been running into heating issues using a 1000w for flowering, would using two 8 bulb T5's with mixed spectrum and a 400w hps be about equivalent in light output compared to the 1000w?

Here is the problem with flourecent lights: They don't "throw" light very far. They lose alot of their lumens over short distances. This means that only your canopy will get that intense light your buds crave, and lower foliage will look weak. Your plants will stretch. If you couple it with the 400 watt bulb, it might be adequate. But there's no way your going to get nearly the amount of bud that you will get if you use a vented 1k and get it close.

T5's and such are great for clones and short veg periods, but leave them in the veg room IMO.

Use the 1k HPS, and invest some money in a vented hood if your having trouble with heat. It's totally worth it. The hood and fan will pay for them selves several times over because of how close you can get that intense light.

You might also consider a vented 600 watt. 600 HPS bulbs have the most efficient lumen to watt ratio of all available bulbs. They generate less heat than a 1k obviously.
