twelve hour cycle question

Hey guys,

I have confusion related to twelve hour cycle: I understand that it will cause the plant to flower. As i understand it to find out the sex of the plant one usually puts the clone on twelve hour cycle to check if plant is male or female! (Correct?)

Now what if i were to put the actual plant on twelve hour cycle what effects would that have on the final plant?

I am asking because i have a landrace on my hand which i am finding really hard to clone or i just suck at it.

Secondly when would be a good time? So to prevent pollination all together.

You take clones of your plants, let them root. Then stick them under 12/12 to determine the sex of the Mother plant.

If you put the mother/father plant on 12/12 you will induce flowering.

As soon as you see signs of balls on the plant (Pollen sacks with NO WHITE HAIRS) rip that fucka our asap.

Keep regulary checking ones you are unsure of for either white hairs or ball sacks.

If you see both, you have a hermaphrodite. Either keep it and smoke some seeded bud or rip it out too if you have other females in the same grow room.

If your talking about putting the motherplant that you take clones off of int 12/12 it will probably flower and get some nice buds, also try getting some rockwool cubes and after you take your cutting from your mother plant (make sure you cut the stem on an angle) dip the tip of it in some root stimulator. then put it in a propagation tray with the dome covering it

hey bhangi. I have been confused about this since I first read it. Take clones root them flower them and then...? what. It takes a week or so to root a clone, now 12 hr light, 3 weeks sex, the original must be 3' high by now.
I did what you are thinking of doing. Clone the plants when they are just about ready to go into flowering. Take at least two clones from each plant and be sure you mark which plant they came from. Put the originals into flowering and the clones into vegging. When the originlas start to show sex take the appropriate action. Get rid of all males. This includes the clones from the males. Worked fine for me. VV

I see some others posted. If your objective is having a mother plant from your original seeds then I guess you could do it that way. Since the clones you take will be the same as the plant they came from, I don't see the advantage of doing so. The first Qeustion I asked myself was, '"how will I know a good mother? This is my first time, what does a good plant look like? So I decided to do it the other way. VV

ok, I've created a couple threads to figure this out but no one has answered me. How do you create a mother??? lets say i have 8 seeds and i grow them under 24 hour or 18/6 light schedule how do i tell if it a male or female? do i have to put under 12/12, if so how do i make a mother out of it if it started flowering?

Thats what i've been trying to figure out... how do i know its female, make it a mother and maintain the mother for a month or 2

take clones from the plant you want to use as the mother.
leave the mother on its 18/6 lighting and let the clones take root.
then put the clones into 12/12 so they start to flower.
if the clones are male then so is the original so you rip it and its clones out.
if the clones are female then you know you have a good mother to take clones from.
keep the mother on 18/6 for as long as you need it, it wont flower and will keep producing more branches you can use for more clones.
all clones taken from it will be female.
to replace the mother you just keep one clone on 18/6 and take clones from it.
then you can flower the original mother and smoke it.

so if i didn't wanna clone, i could just put all the plants in flowering. As soon as i spot a male kill it.

Will that work ok? Or am i risking pollination?
