Hey guys, I have used cfls but thanks to low watt led screw bulbs finally being available (in day light as well as warm white) you can replace your cfls. I have and the results are speaking for themselves- way outperforming my 13/23/46w cfls PLUS, leds last for years and no mercury to f with the environment

Yes there is one 13w cfl but it will be replaced once my ordr gets here. Found a source in china www.chinabuyes.com prices are 1/4 of Lowes + free shipping. HOWEVER< they are direct shipped from china so 2-4 weeks delivery

I just bought the new 14000K & 25000K CFL lamp. The store told me that 14000K is for grow stage and 25000K is for flowering, is this correct??? And should I get a 600W HPS lamp& ballast for flowering or will the 25000K globe be enough??? I want MAX Buds!!!

How to use CFL’s?

In order to efficiently use CFL’s to grow your MJ you will need to position the lights around 2 – 4 inches from the foliage of the plant. If you place the light too close, then your plant will have nothing to vertically stretch to and it will remain short and stocky. (Ex. My First Grow and FarmingToronto’s) Some people combat this by addingCFL’s to the side of foliage instead of on top of it. On the other hand if the light is too far away from the plant, the stem will suffer elongation (stretching), which will result in loose and fluffy bud’s.It is very important to note that when using CFL’s it’s a daily “battle” to have lights in the right spot. Many of us are in our grow areas at least once a day anyway, so to move your bulbs a bit really isn’t that big a deal. Also many people wonder is it better to have many low watt CFL’s or just a few high watt CFL’s. Both way’s are capable of provided you a good harvest but I suggest you chose the configuration that is easiest for you and your grow area. http://www.1000bulbs.com/2-to-200-Watt-Compact-Fluorescent-Screw-In-Light-Bulbs/http://www.buylighting.com/Non-Dimmable-Compact-Fluorescent-s/75.htm
Do you have to switch the CT/k/wattage when flowering or can can you continue to use the same light just on a different schedule?

That is not sufficient light for that number of plants. How many actual watts? Get yourself some 2 dollar splitters and get some more light on those babies. If you have room for 6 plants you have room for more than 2 damn light bulbs. I grew for plants under 425 what actual and did great. You can't have too much light just too much heat. You need to repeat your question more frequently. LOL. This is not a suicide hotline. People are not always just sitting around waiting for a question to answer. I say jump Jump jump jump jump:D Good luck

Hey guys, I'm going to go copy and paste the answers to everyone's question in my next message. I'm sure the answers to all your questions are probably in this thread, or maybe others. I'll be right back, you wait here.

Chizle,

Don't mean to come across as a hard-ass, but not knowing basic info is a recipe for failure. What light to use is as basic as it gets. So buy a book

THINK! I suggest you consult Farmer's Almanac, or something similar, better stil a MJ grow book.

Plants in nature are grown (veg) in spring. Read what that light & weather is like. Ditto Fall. As they play an important role in a plant's life cycle, they play a similar role indoors
.

Even though I have been growing for many years, I treated myself to Ed Rosenthals latest book Available from Amazon fr ~ $20. It is very complete, used by Oksterdam Univ to teach.

CFLs contain mercury, not good for the environment. Break one of those big bulbs, and not good for you or any pets.

I've been switching over to leds. Just started a new thread here, but link went to wrong place. LED tech is developing exponentially. Saturday, I bought a EcoSmart 40w equivalent screw bulb; 5000K with 850 lm for $22 at Lowes. Mix ~3000K + 5000K - 2-4:1 in flower, the opposite in veg. This mix will get you in the ball park, then needs adjustment based on how your strain responds

There`s a ton of posts here so this question may have been addressed. If so, my bad. I use CFL`s but I`ve never tried this before so I have no experience with HPS nor Metal Halide, nor LED`s. Is there a substantial difference in the overall yield of plants grown with these other lighting systems. When answering, please consider the expense of both, the lighting systems, and the cost to operate these systems as variables. As stated, I`m a total newb so I appreciate any info offered. Thanks

can you grow with a 13 watt cfl overall for vegitating and flowering just by changing the light cycle? i know its not proper i just want to expirament im poor

13w will not get u anywhere bro. Don't waste your time and money. If u r that poor, experiment with an auto flower or short indica at the end of spring to grow outdoors.
