well I stopped phing my soil and was watering with a tap water which has like 8.5 ph and never had any problems and did not see any difference between phing and leaving as it is. pH problems is such a rare thing to have in soil/soilless grows... As well as to have P deficiency growing indoors.

Also about harvesting window.. it's not "5-10% whaterver amber and the rest cloudy" you are looking for. Its peak potency is when there's like 20-30% of cloudy, the rest is clear. Cloudy means passed the peak potency, amber THC degraded into CBN. Here's the article on that. But thats for sativa dom strains where people are looking getting high, not stoned. Those who prefer indica headbangs and couchloks and sleepy effect, prob goes for more amber, since CBN gives you sleepy effect..
also that goes with capitate stalked resin glands(trichs) and calyxes swollen.
But there are so many opinions over here, with everyone who agrees there's two who disagrees so your call man
Just wanted to share things I've learned..
Cheers!
Thanks for the great reply, I am also going to stop PHing my tap water as I am pretty sure the lime buffers everything to the right range (its 6.8 ph so maybe a little high). This is why I also thought it was a burn issue not a def, since it wasnt lock out due to PH nor lack of nutes lol. Im chalking it up to first grow mistakes, I will learn... hopefully!

As for harvesting, that article is contradictory to others I have read as they say cloudy is peak and amber is just past. I am going off the sticky in the harvesting forums. which is one reason why I think there is so much disagreement on when to harvest.

I am going for more of a body high, I have RA so need anti-inflammatory and pain meds. I am going to stick with my plan, only because it will more or less be an experiment since I harvested the first half of the plant with very little amber. This will have more, I can literally smoke the same plant side by side with different harvest periods. Its fun to try to play scientist

yeah man, it's contradictory, as I've said, just like everything else in here.. Let me name some of them - high P foods in flower, preharvest flush to make it taste better, sprouting in paper towels, removing fan leaves for light to access lower part of the plant, people saying that topping causes more stress than LST, soil pH... in the end I just decided to follow Kite High and Uncle Ben and some other people. They've been growing over 30-40years, every time they get into debates, they are able to prove their points with various studies, lab results etc, their grow results speak for themselves. And since I'm looking for purely sativa uplifting creative trippy energetic buzz social high without any shortterm memory loses or feeling sleepy or stoned or couchlock effects getting amber is a no no go for me. But for you looking to use it as a painkiller might be totally different for you..
So to summarize, people are growing different strains, they are looking for different effect, also one day you can get one effect and another from the same weed feel different.. too many people waste their time arguing about this subjective thing..
But I believe the "wait for the amber to appear" idea came from outdoor growers, because of the suns UV rays, rain, wind etc outdoor plants have way more amber trichs at harvest time than indoor plants, maybe that's the reason.. But amber it's not a degrading thing, amber is degraded.. And ofc once you experiment for yourself, try samples from different weeks in some grows you will know what you are heading for :)
Cheers

Good Morning guys,

So this Wednesday I harvested the rest of Alyiha, the drying is going MUCH MUCH better then the 1st half of her thanks to my drying box. Has been 2.5 days drying and been able to keep it between 66 - 72 degrees. I have been cycleing the fan in the box to keep humidity up. If I let it run the box stays a steady 40-45% which is little low, so I turn it off to let it get up a little then turn it back on.

Last night, before fan on

This morning

Last time after about 18 hours they felt slightly crispy. This time after 60 hours they still feel slightly spongy, so I am thinking Sunday I can jar them up (108 hours of hang dry or 4.5 days). Also got the 1st half of the harvest at a steady 59% RH in jars, and am now only burping once per week. But we ran out of our purchased weed. So we decided to start smoking Aliyha and I am very pleased with her. I am pretty sure that I will like her 2nd half and sister even better :)

Zhara going well, there is still white pistils/hairs so I know its not time to chop but her chromes are nice and cloudy. Shame that I fucked her up so bad with the nutes (and her sister). Hopefully will be better with the Criticals, also think ill be going Hempy for 3rd grow.

PICTURE DUMP! HAVE FUN :)
