Trump Says Marijuana Makes People “Lose IQ Points” In Secret Recording

President Trump could be heard saying that using marijuana makes people “lose IQ points” in a secretly recorded conversation released on Saturday.

“In Colorado they have more accidents,” the president said in the clip captured by Lev Parnas, an associate of Trump attorney Rudolph Giuliani, who is at the center of the Ukraine scandal that led to the president’s impeachment. “It does cause an IQ problem.”

Parnas first broached the topic of cannabis by asking Trump about state-legal marijuana businesses’ lack of access to banking services.

“Cannabis, look, you’re talking about marijuana, right?” the president replied. “You can’t do banking there?”

Trump could also be heard in the newly released recording asking a number of questions, such as, “Do you think the whole marijuana thing is a good thing?” and, “But it’s actually good for opioids?”

One dinner attendee replied to the latter query by saying that cannabis is a “better alternative” to prescription painkillers, while another said that “alcohol does much more damage” than marijuana.

The president’s claim that using marijuana causes people lose IQ points is contradicted by the National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA).

“[R]ecent results from two prospective longitudinal twin studies did not support a causal relationship between marijuana use and IQ loss,” the federal agency says.

Well I’m sure it doesn’t increase your IQ point at time of being high lol. All I know is I get kind of stupid when I’m smoking the master kush I have :(. I try not to smoke before I have a thinking type chore to do like a brake job or furnace repair lol.

Hmmm...well he may have a point. I wouldn't want to actually take an IQ test while stoned. Pretty sure it would be lower. 8)

lol not that this is science or anything, but my GPA when I was a clean athlete in college was 2.0 (and under), years later when I smoked on a daily basis was 3.6 and I earned my B.S. and Masters.

I doubt it was the pot but I could very well be wrong. Maybe you just matured a bit in those passing years? I went back to school after dropping out in high school and became a systems analyst. I grew up ...... well somewhat lol. I just am very skeptical of “it’s a miracle drug” hype but that’s not to say I don’t enjoy it on a daily basis as well ;).

The reason I ask is because what you describe is more due to a lack of confidence in ones self which usually happens at relatively a young age, which is amplified while being high. Marijuana actually makes a person more detail oriented during such tasks.
Ummm well that’s probably not the case here ;). I’m actually 60ish and have been very involved in the industry since I was 14. So this more detailed oriented thing, is that your personal experience or a proven scientific peer reviewed study? I would love to review it. Also different strains have different effects so it’s IMO hard to generalize.

UB,
I recently started to binge watch "How the Universe Works" and am currently hung up on the idea that all possible information lives on the surface of the universe...and that all matter is just a holographic projection from that information field.

Scuze me while I kiss the sky...

no causal relationship between marijuana use and IQ... idk man it depends how they collected and used the data. i knew alot of really dumb people back in high school that skipped class to get high. also if IQ is related to intelligence (IQ tests arent a good indicator of true intelligence) and intelligence is related to access to information then that access to information is hindered due to smoking marijuana.

basically if you smoke dope you get caught in a cycle of smoking dope and not doing other things that increase intelligence such as reading and random web surfing or attending courses. also having a fried short term memory will affect certain parts of an IQ test (reading a short story and remembering how many events it had).

Truth to this. You're lucky to have a talent and activity that is enhanced by pot. I'm talking about you being an artist. Creative types can thrive on ganja.

But I once had a pothead Doctor...kept missing shit.

How much ya smoke has a lot to do with it too, if ya wake and bake and go through an ounce a week or more, yer generally gonna be useless as tits on a bull( temporary). I find from my own life experience that moderate use in older adults has a salutary effect on mental functioning. The younger you are the harder it seems to be on your brain ( a temporary effect) and as you age it seems to help.

An old post of mine:
If ya wanna stay sharp, stay high! Pot might not be so great for young folks brains, but if yer over 50 (if yer not now, you will be, if yer lucky), it's a different ball game. Lot's of new research coming out on the health benefits, particularly for older folks. It may slow down or stop not just alzheimer's, but general age related neural decline, you won't have a 1000 yard stare and drive at 10mph in a few years. When it comes to pot, I think it'll end up as, "Old Farts Rule"! Imagine what the media/political reaction will be to a successful clinical trial for alzheimer's, the health websites, TV, health magazines and newspapers will be all over it. Why even ole Jeff Sessions will be high, either that or watch his brains run outta his ears. Other research shows there's every indication that it is highly effective for brain injuries too by preventing brain cell death and aiding recovery. So there's good news for the youngins after all. They've done (and are doing) a lot of work with old folks and pot in Israel and recently greatly expanded medical access.

Well at least mice have a better memory lol. I’m not arguing that there are not benefits to the electric lettuce, just that we don’t know and honestly I can’t say it’s ever helped me ace a test ..... just sayin.

I love smoking a joint just before I rebuild a carb or paint a boat but I’m pretty sure it doesn’t make it go faster, but it is more enjoyable. It’s almost a sense of making it more challenging as well. But yes smoking pot since I was 14, I would hazard to guess, has not made me more successful, but learning to gain financially from it has. Learning some Spanish helped to ;).

I lost a full point in both eyes last time I had an eye exam..the doctor kept saying over and over about how he can't believe it..'did you have eye surgery'? 'as we age nearsightedness changes because your eyeball changes for the better but not a full point better'.

I swear it's from the weed.

I can now wear one contact for distance and none for up close..no reading glasses- nothing.
