True or false about brownies?

Me and a friend were discussing how to make hash brownies and we stumbled into an argument about how it was actually made... He says you can just put the grinded up stem and fan leaves in as you cook the brownies and you would still get as high as using cannibutter.

Is this true cus if so i am gonna do it that way to save alot of time

from what I understand cooking the weed does very little, you need to extract THC from the weed, which is how you make cannabutter, which provides a far superior high.

FALSE (i think)

Friends,

I've been all over a cannabis cooking craze as of the past few months. My girlfriend developed some horrible, whooping-cough-like condition, and safe to say, it limited her ability to puff the good stuff with me.

So I got creative.

I checked on youtube, google, etc., for suggestions on simply how to make brownies. Everyone seemed to be talking some stuff about Cannabutter.

"You gotta use cannabutter," or, "without the butter, you've got nothing," etc.

I'm sure you know what I mean. But what made that process all the more cumbersome was that no one had the same recipe!!! One guy "don't boil the butter a minute more than 30!!!," another guy, "boil it for at least 45-60 minutes," and yet another guy, "boil it overnight."

WTF!?!?!?! All I wanna do is get baked without smoking!!!!

So I remembered my younger days and how I once baked a batch of brownies in high school by simply crumbling-up about a quarter or so of schwag into the brownie mix before baking at 350 for 30 or so minutes. That was it.

I decided to trust my memories of highs gone by, and so I crumbled a quarter into a batch of brownies and baked them according to package instructions.

Within an hour or two, myself, my girlfriend and my buddy from out of town were grinning so wide that we could have licked the backs of our own ears.

LONG STORY SHORT: If you want to bake brownies with greenery in them, here's the gospel according to yours truly:

If you have a grinder, great. Use it. If not, then just crumble your green as best you can over the mixing bowl you'll eventually use for your brownies. If your weed has sticks & seeds, ditch em, as chances are, you don't want to chew on them when eating your brownies.

I use between a quarter & a half O of BC buds. You can use schwag. You can use headies. You can really use anything, but I find the cost-effectiveness of BCs + the relative levels of potency are a good bang for the buck.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

This is really all you need to know. Slowly add your herbals to your brownie mix -- already in your mixing bowl -- and make brownies as you would if you didn't use herb in em.

My girlfriend and I are borderline vegans, so we don't eat eggs. Your recipe won't need em if you choose to omit them; your texture will be more fudge-like than cake-like, fyi.

That's it, friends. Bake, then get baked!

Now if you'll excuse me, I think I hear my kitchen timer. :hump:

I disagree with some of you guys, I think you can make just as strong brownies without cannabis butter, but they will taste real leafy and kinda nasty, but the high is the same if its the same amount of weed being put into the brownies, however using cannabutter is better because you dont taste the weed as much.

ive done both methods, and the only real difference i noticed was it was a hella lot easier to eat the oil/butter ones compared to the ground up and tossed in ones.

if you grind your herbs finely enough, you'll hardly notice a thing... except a killer buzz.
I would disagree i have used both methods many times in the past, and have come to the conclusion that the cannabutter ones got me way more stoned and tasted alot better than the ones with just grinded bud.
Just my opinion :)

as i stated: i can't really speak for cannabutter, as i've only tried making it once... and did so badly.
so far though, i've had a brownie -- the grind & bake variety -- this morning... and things are looking prettyyyyy, prettyyyyy good.

Well why would it make a difference, ive eaten like 2 grams of bud before when I was stopped by the cops, and it got me super faded....why does it make a difference if its just thc butter? My dad used to make the strongest brownies, a tiny square would have you stoned the whole day, and he never used butter, but ive also bought brownies from clubs and dispensaries and barley felt a thing, anyways thats just my experience, so i simply grind the weed up reallllly fine in a coffe grinder, and throw it all in the mix:)

i'm pretty positive you have to cook thc for it to get you high when eating it. cooking it turns thca into thc and when you cook it use high fat butter because thc bonds to fat so the higher the fat content, the more thc the butter can hold. use cannabutter, much better and deffinatly works.

The THC is activated by either method. Canna Butter is great if you have a bunch to work with and wish to preserve it as it has many uses for cooking, not just browines. Back in the 70's nobody I knew made Canna Butter, but we all ate brownies to great effect. The baking will activate the T. :peace:

I recently made a pound of cannabutter using my slow cooker. I saw a number of recipes that dictated various cooking times, but I decided on a full 24 hours. One stick went into a batch of cookies(great stone) and the other stick went into the freezer. I'd like to try brownies next time and I might put in a little finely ground kush for some extra punch. I figure brownies would mask the taste and texture of herb better than cookies.

hey jax,
is there a certain temperature/time that you've found to be best?
i *generally* do about 350 for 30-45 minutes... but i'm sure there's something a bit more exact than my winging-it style...

No not really, your fine, just bake them like regular brownies. 350 is far and away more than enough to release the THC and being inside the brownie is what keeps the goodness form evaporating. Fire (smoking) is 212F.... so 350 is fine with brownie insulation. :peace:

I truly think the only thing cannabutter does is take away the earthy leaf taste, the brownies I used to make from just a shitload of fine shake were soooooo strong...like scary strong, but they tasted horrible because it was so much shake....just had to gobble them down real fast and let them do there thing.
