Hello everybody, I'm currently in Europe visiting some family, and since im only a few hours away from Amsterdam I will be taking a trip up there June 30th till July6th, would be longer but got a flight back to the states July 10th.
This brings me to my questions from people that visited, live there, lived there, or just maybe know somebody that lives there that they keep in contact with. What would be my best choice for living quarters for the week I'm up there boathouse, hostel, apartment rental? also whats a few things that you wouldn't leave Amsterdam with out seeing or doing? Historical or just Fun.
and for the last question, whats a few coffee shops that you would highly suggest paying a visit to. Since there is so many of them it would be nice to visit a few that people suggest.
+Reps will be given :-D

As far as staying I stayed in a hotel. The down side to this is no smoking. Most places will not let you smoke in your room. Very high Fines if caught. PLaces to check out. Well If you like history and building I suggest you roll up a few fatties and go explore. There are a lot of historical building and meauseums there. If you dig WW2 type stuff there is a really eye opening meuseum about how the nazis treated the jews and what not. I will have to look up the name. One coffee shop I would not leave the Dam with out visiting is the Grey Area. It is a small place, but good people and grat quality.

I looked up the Flying Pig and they said they do have a smoke room open 24/7 on their premises, might be a good time to meet some fellow smokers at the same time.
I just recently visited Auschwitz concentration camp since it was only a few hours away from the family house I'm staying at, very interesting, yet moving stuff. Would definetly be interesting in checking out a couple more place especially in different countries.

I'll definitely be checking out The Grey Area, keep hearing about it in about every trip report I've read so far.
Thank yas.

Just hit the the RedLight and you'll find a coffeeshop that you enjoy. I go up a couple times a year and have been for about a decade and still find new places. As far as accommodations, if you're not into high class then the Bulldog Hotel might be right for you. In addition to the hostel they also have private rooms you can rent. They have a fabulous smoke friendly pub on site and a nice balcony/patio. The Bulldog is centrally located and right in the heart of the RedLight. I think it's one of the better places to stay if partying is the main thing on your agenda.

The Buldog Hotel! It's in the heart of the Dam (Red light district) they're decently cheap and have great hospitality. *As for the coffee shops I can't give you any in particular just do as I did and stop at everyone you see. Also go check out the Coca Museum and get a few shots of Agwa de Bolivia. I luhh dat shit!

I was, definitely going to hit up the Red light district, been doing lots of research on it and since I'm recently divorced I think Ill actually have more fun that way hehe.
Thanks for the suggestion on the hostel will be looking that up now.
Partying isn't really the main this on my agenda but I'll certainly be taking part in some of it;). More of a trip to see what Amsterdam is all about culturally wise, besides the weed smoking.

the anne frank house is pretty awesome to see at least once.. amazingly small, with stairs that are more like ladders, but that's pretty typical in most on the dam in my experience.
canal cruise is awesome as well..

as far as coffee shops, the grey area, the grasshopper, abraxis, and a bunch of other ones.. believe it or not, there are some really crappy coffee shops with even crappier buds in them.. stay away from the bulldogs ime as they're over priced with not so good bud ime..
tons of cool places to stay that are fairly cheap as well, that shouldn't be an issue.. i stayed at the dam hotel on the dam straat..

yeah, it's right on the dam straat, like two steps away from the centraal train station.. went to get in a cab and the dude was like wtf are you doing m8, your hotel is a stones throw away, lol.
and yeah, the red light district starts like right across the street from the hotel, and the grasshopper is right there as well.
amsterdam is a pretty small city all in all as far as cities go ... a week should be plenty of time to see all there is to see..
also forgot the hash museum in the redlight district.. was a pretty cool stop..

oh snap sutra, almost forgot about this one. when i was there, most of the coffee shops sold this lil booklet thingy called the smokers guide to amsterdam, which had maps to all the cool coffee shops, coupons and shit in it, and was about 5 euro or so for the book.. i still have mine around some where..
anyhoo's, they even have a website with the same name that has an awesome bud and has review for tons of bud in amsterdam, tell you where they purchased it at, and give a lil smoke report for each one.. it's an incredible resource to say the least..

here's a link sutra, well worth a perusal or two imvho... http://www.smokersguide.com/sg/index.html

it goes off every hour like a normal big ass clock does.. it's not a big deal tbh, was kinda cool tbh, just thought i;d throw it out there is all..

and yeah, most of the bigger coffee shops have plenty of quality hash for you to try.. tbh, i was mostly smoking the hash while i was there and not too much bud as i can smoke all the bud i want back at home and i've never had much access to quality hash like i did in the dam..
the super polm is nice and the caramello as well, and the ice water hashes are always killer too..
