Trimming love to hate it !

I hate trimming ! I sneeze like crazy and my back hurts after a while. Not to mention it's so tedious ! I hate trimming. Enough said.

What is your take on trimming ?
Any tips ?
Time savers ?
To wear a mask or not to ?
Gloves or none ?
Love or hate ?

It's a love hate for me. My wife and I have settled into a system that works for us though, I knock off all the big leaf and crows feet and she does that final trim. It makes it so neither of us are holding a piece for very long and it seems to go by faster because looking at one bud for too long can really zap ya, at least for us.

I know lots of people who are much faster than us but we got about a lb done per 4 hours. Granted that's 8 working hours. I've known people who can do upwards of 3 lbs per 10 hours but I also bet they left crows feet an shit, but I'm not sure as to the exact quality of their work.

Put it down to a mental challenge

Gloves. Boxes of them.

Friskars titaniums for the fans. Tweezerman hair cutting scissors for the side cuts.

Masks aren't necessary for anybody not prone to allergies, lung problems, etc.

I personally set up so that I can go from standing(table) to sitting(tray) throughout the whole process. It's better for you, as opposed to doing one or the other.

If you hire help, pay them well and buy them lunch. And beers - late in the day. They might lag a bit if you pay them hourly, but they do much nicer work versus people who get paid on how much weight they trim.

I hate it. I hated it when I trimmed 100+lb outdoor harvests, I hate it now when I trim 10-12oz harvests.

I try to make the most of it, save whatever shows or movies I can and put them on during.

No gloves, regular grey and black fiskars, and a razor blade to keep them clean/collect scissor hash

I have no love for trimming. Its one of the reasons I run a single cola SOG style grow. Its way better trimming up a bunch of small plants with very little side branching then it is trimming bushes with tons of little buds.

People who can enjoy use friskers, or failsters, shock me. The blades are so thick! Ughhh.. hydro farm and the knock offs for me only.

I've learned dont hire help. It only brings bullshit, unless you truly cant help it. I've seen friends loose huge amounts from people who they considered good friends. If you have to hire out help, it's going to be done poorly anyways so may as well buy a trim machine

Trim machines are great for larf and mids, but not the top half. You have shitty friends. My friends don't steal from me. You might want to replace them.

Without a doubt love trimming!!!! 1 glove on the bud holding hand while trimming with the blue fiskers curved tips. Love it when you've trimmed for so long that the eyes start twitching!!!

I trim a couple oz a week by hand and even that is tedious as fuck.

When do they invent a trimless strain and end this torture

Not sure if he was referencing stealing or them butchering harvests. Either way I guess I’m lucky since most of my friends who help are way more tedious and careful with the buds than I am.

Maybe, maybe my friends have shitty friends, as they are who I refferanced. But I've worked as a trimmer for a lot of years for others and watched a LOT of people steal and growers get stolen from. Lots of come an goers if you get me. I've learned to just trim with my wife, because almost everyone steals a little, if not a lot. Grams or pounds I've seen both.

Personally I ask for the extra I feel I deserve, but not everyone asks.

I've seen both over the years. I've seen shit trimmed so bad it was better off trim machined, and I've seen half the harvest walk away. Basically for MY crop, it's a me an my wife thing. But I dont harvest over 5lbs unless its outdoor. A lot of you do. For outdoor I dont mind a one time a year long haul dry trim.

I despise trimming.

I go into my grow room at trim time the same way I came into this earth.. Naked and crying!

I have a suit I wear, I used to use disposable gloves but now I use marigolds , the resin peals of easier straight after or worst case they go in the freezer overnight and then the hash comes off easy.

I found its all about the way you sit and the height . I used to sit cross legged but legs go dead soon and if you stand up quick needing a piss your likely to buckle and go face first into plants.

I wear a mask when I remember, not so much for the allergies but so my nose isn't full of stink when I come out, otherwise I wander around my house thinking everything stinks of my crop.
I put up my hood, stink clings to hair otherwise.

I have a tray for branches fresh cut. A pot for fan leaf, a pot for trim, a bucket for trimmed buds and a bucket to sit on. Plus a bucket for piss since I wont leave the room with the same clothes on and don't want to strip naked and run to the toilet.

Tried lots of scissors but found the £shop sell packs of 3 for have a guess!! when clogged up I switch scissors. Eventually I clean them all with a blade, they last a long time and have a nice point to get in close.

I fucking hate trimming but at least it gives me a close and clean trimmed product.

I tell myself that I’m god, and I’m making trees or green diamonds.

A nice pair of scissors makes a big difference; my woman and I use these. Curved blade, sap resistant and Japanese steel beat those spring loaded ones.

What is your take on trimming.. A chore that must be relised

Any tips ? ..Hire peeps make it a party give away the trim

Time savers ? ..Hire peeps, as above grow smaller but many plants, use autos?

To wear a mask or not to ?.. outside in a breezy way on my sun lounger

Gloves or none ? ..Olive oil or no smell/taste oil to the hands

I don't mind trimming it gives me a chance to be lazy and watch TV on my laptop with headphones, it is the only time I watch TV so it is a bit of a treat. Normally trim for 3 days, 6-8 hours each day.
If the colas are nice and hard it does make things more enjoyable. I use a bowl trimmer for all of the small stuff.
As I can't come inside the house once I start my wife brings me sarnies and cups of tea, something she doesn't normally do, so all in all a bit of a break from normal life.
