Aslong as you can get enough light to all leafs then dont trim. More leave, more food production, more bud! In theory...

I can tell you from experience that it is the worst thing to do to a flowering plant. The fan leaves are the main factories in your plant that make fat, dense buds. I burned the fan leaves off of the middle of a main cola on one of my plants(accident of course cfls), and the budsites where the fan leaves were damaged were considerably smaller, exposing a half inch of stem, on an otherwise extremely dense bud. Its not rocket science, just tie your branches down, and maximize your light source. Super cropping can be used to achieve the same effect.

Personal preference not to trim. Fan leaves can provide your plant and buds the necessary energy they need to grow, not only through photosynthesis. If your plant isnt receiving adequate nutrients from the soil to produce quality flowers, the fan leaves act as a back up plan and provide the flowers with the necessary energy.
IMO, bud sites dont need light, only the leaves need the light to produce sugars for the plant and buds. Chlorophyll (s) are the molecules that enable the photosynthetic reaction to occur, and they reflect green wavelengths giving plants their colour. My flowers are not green and are mostly white with a little amber and brown (at 5 weeks) and thus leads me to believe that the buding site does not contain the chlorophyll molecules. Just my two cents; correct me if im wrong...

nice lady btw... looking good

Preference? If your preference is low yields try it. Seriously, trim the fan leaves off of one cola, and watch how spindly it grows... It won't fill out properly.

thanks it has allways looked great to me,but nice to get feed back from fellow growers,i was wondering allso as it is a cross from a white widdow do you think it would be better to let it flower a week or so longer say 9 to 10 weeks for that extra thc build up.

They look like they have a while, check out the harvesting and curing thread. Watch for your leaves to yellow and most likely die off, check your trichomes, and be sure to flush!

Good luck

MJ floral clusters, aka buds do contain chlorophyll. Maybe you are referring to pistils, but the calyxes are green unless you have a purple plant or whatnot.

With regards to cutting fan leaves off, its beyond retarded. Heres a great link that discusses how plants flower from top to bottom. For anyone that doesn't want to read it, apical dominance & levels of auxins controls flowering for our beloved plants. Removing fan leaves will not make your lower buds grow faster or bulk up or any of that other nonsense people tell you.
