Trichomes on stems.. normal or noteworthy? AgroMaX Pure UV used

16 days from flip to flower, and a long 60 day veg. AgroMax Pure UV 24w bulb used for nearly five weeks now. I noticed stems were a little sticky prior to flip though didn't think much about it. They're really sticky now and dang they smell great, it's like rubbing a bud between your fingers.

I decided to break out the microscope. This is a mainlined sativa where stems were definitely exposed to UV. Up top I'm just now seeing pistil heads, some nice oils on the leaves but not sticky like the stems. Think about stems.. when I think stems I think of them being less equipped (normally) to deal with UV. I dunno I've had stems smell nice but not get super sticky. Check this out...

No first time, also first time using UV and Cree COB.

ive seen strains like that , may or may not be the uv, hard to tell

How much are you running the lamp and even more important, what kind of PPE are you using?

I've been running three 30 minute intervals, and now four 30 minute intervals per light cycle. 36+" from canopy. I know 15 minute intervals are optimal, but I didn't feel like spending money on a special timer. So far so good. Sorry PPE?

My plants are getting chopped tomorrow.. I just checked out my stems and they have Trichomes but not like yours...
There is nowhere as many and they are very developed.. the darker stripe is like pitch and sticky as hell...

In this case to include quality wraparound safety glasses with UV blocking, face and head covering- ears too, heavy long sleeve shirt, gloves, long pants and socks n shoes.

Or better yet, stay the fuck out when it's running. I don't think these lamps have the proper warnings on them yet. I believe they could easily contribute to blinding you and they WILL sunburn the living shit out of you if you're exposed for any length of time more than a few minutes.

Oh yes I don't access it when the UV is on, thanks. I dim the COBs down to min otherwise. Most everything done as they wake.

COB LED won't hurt you, there's no UV in it at all. This is just one more reason why I love them.

It is interesting. There's not a lot of hard data on UV supplementation; Would be interesting to see a side by side comparison of tric/resin levels with and without supplementation. I'll update how things look in a few weeks.

i got allready too sticky stems, i would say it has nothing really with light to do.
i remeber my white widow grow with hps 600watt. 2pheons from 10 pheons got mega sticky stems with mega nice smell

Thanks, yeah it's my first time seeing sticky stems like this. Maybe not so much the UV then. Oh well pretty pics!

Timers with 15 minute pegs are easy to get, that's what I'd be using.

Perfect thanks I have one that I use for my cloner that's flood and drain so I can set it up and have at it. Will be interesting to see how it works with the new COB's wonder if I should veg the first round COB only for baseline?

Everyone has different ideas here. Personally, I'd start with a small amount of supplementation in veg in order to get the plants used to it. Properly hardening the plants off to UVB- whenever you do it- is a key to success because it lessens the chance of burning the plants.
