Trichome Method

I have bought the DBPOWER 30X 60X Illuminated Jeweler's Eye Loupe to check for trichome. It has little light should I have that light on while I am checking or not? Because if I use that light it shows that the trichome is ready and milky. But if I use with out just under my plant lamp its still clear.

Agreed about using the light. Also only bother if the plant is actually ripe and look to the buds not bud leaves to determine trichomes maturity.

Not all plants show Clear/cloudy/amber/brown but most modern hybrids do. Best to pick when they are as close to 100% cloudy when they do as that is peak potency. The ambering and eventually degraded brown is past peak potency and is showing a degradation of the active canabanoids.

However some plants show clear and colorful trichomes. The colors are a bit transparent and I have seen amber, purple, red and blue on good sativa leaning plants.

But I still crop those when the clear trichs go cloudy. They are still usually turning cloudy amidst the colorful ones. They can be harder to judge so still look to plant to see it is ripe first.

When they are done they look done for the most part.

The calyx will have swelled and the white pistils will have mostly receded and browned. And there won't be any more growth. If you are patient you can see it easily.
