Trichome Development!

Ive got this micro grow going, and one of the plants is 15 inches tall, with no trichome development on the cola, or any of the budsites, and another plant that's probably 10 inches tall, with trichomes everywhere. What's up with that? The plants are treated the exact same, fed the same amounts, watered the same amounts, and use the same lights. They've both been in 12/12 for 2 weeks now. The shorter one with all the development is deformed because my dumbass planted the seed wrong. What could be happening? I thought the deformed one would be worse off? Am I just worrying about nothing?

Yeah, im amazed you have trichs at all. Im about 6 weeks into flower an only about half of my plants have noticeable trichs.

I also have two of the same strain plants that are at different levels of flowering. Everything was the same for them, but one is further developed than another. Dont know why.

Yea they will do that. Then all of a sudden they are all over the place.

I worried about them once myself.

Ah, Still not abnormal. I tossed a few into 12/12. Saw trichs @ 4 weeks, (but wasn't home for weeks 2&3)

How do you plant a seed wrong?

Sounds like your worrying about nothing. Lots of different phenos exist within the same strain. Grow em out and see what you get.
More trics don't always translate into stronger smoke.
Hell, take a clone from each one just to hedge your bet.

Good luck.

Thank you for your encouragement! The taller one with less trichome development is finally developing some at the cola underneath some of the sugar leaves. This reply brings another question to mind... I know you can continue 'using' a plant after it's done flowering... but do you change the light schedule back veg, or just continue flowering? Nature tells me to switch back to veg for awhile... but I've never had a successful crop, therefore I've never been in this situation. Any experience on this subject?

Edit: To answer your question, I planted the seed upside-down.

Yup, flush em with just water for the last week or 2 before you chop em down.

Don't chop them ALL the way down, leave yourself at least a couple sets of leaves at the the bottom.

Stick em back under 24 or 18 hour light till you see new growth, prolly 2 weeks. I'd say hold back on the nutes for the most part at this point, or give them something light like fish emulsion. Then stick them back under 12/12 and your good to go.

As for upside down seeds and mutants - I think if the green part finds its way to the light, its all good. Nature has a way of working those things out. =)

Good luck, hope it helps.

Hey, thanks again, man. As for the seed that I planted 'wrong', it just had trouble getting through the soil, and therefore stunted and deformed it. I had to move a little dirt so that it would make it through. Can't wait to see how everything turns out after all this time. Smoking weed that you grew yourself is so much more satisfying. :blsmoke:
