Hey guys, I've got my first DWC grow happening now, I'm 3 weeks in and I must say I wasn't expecting this much growth so fast. Usually I do dirt, and it doesn't grow this quick..photo(23).jpgphoto(22).jpg

As you can see in the pictures, they are short and bushy. I've been keeping the light nice and close 10 - 12 inches. For veg I'm using a 400w MH, and for flower I'm going to use a 400w HPS.

I started them from seed, I germinated 5 thinking only 3 would make it. But all 5 popped. So I put em all in, now I'm thinking when I sex em, only 2 or 3 will be female. But you never know. I am going to clone them before I flip em to 12/12. So I can keep one of the clones for a mama.. So I figure when I clone em, I'll top em..

So I'm bringing my plants to the poll, I'm appealing to the vast knowledge of a forum full of fellow growers... Would you keep them bushy? Or would you move the light back and let em get taller? Comments and tips are always welcome, even if it's just to tell me I'm an idiot.. :weed:

Bushy tree.
Lol, that's no help! :)

So you're saying move the light back for a few days so they grow up a bit then move it back so they stay bushy?
I've never done both, I usually go for bushes, and a few times I've gone tree. But I've never done both.

it depends on how much bud sites you want from what i know is the higher the light the longer nodes will be = less bud sites i personly would keep them bushy maybe rise the light a little and let them get a bit taller and go from there they are looking good

I know this wasn't a vote option, but perhaps a scrog? They look like they will be quite bushy plants, so to get the best result (what with them all being quite close together in the tub) screen off, then train for multiple bud sites. Clip of anything below the screen.

Whatever you decide, good luck

Ok, update on the poll. 4 votes for me being an idiot. 3 votes for bush.. I wonder if I should add scrog as an option.. I've never gone scrog before..

As you can see, they are very bush like.. Short and fat.. I'm starting to worry that they are getting to bushy.. They are all up in each others junk.. Any ideas from here?
Trim some? LST? Flip em and scrog? These babies are bushes!

I think that's just too many plants for that space. But I'm all for bushy. In my case I can't go too tall. What strand is that btw? looks very similar to mine.

are they living there for the duration? If so I vote leave 'em, and flip to 12/12 next week. ;)

Yup, I'm flippin them in a week or so, I still have to take some more clones, and make sure they root before I flip it.. I just found out I suck at cloning, But I'm using a bubble clone method now so it should be good..

Oh and recent pics.. They are still bushes, Going to lolipop them clone em and flip em soon.. They are on preflower nutes right now.photo(32).jpgphoto(33).jpgphoto(31).jpg

The last pic is my new veg cabinet where I have failed on 4 clones already. They didn't make it and once removed from the rockwoll the stems were hollow.. I took the cuttings low, so I think they were hollow :cuss:when I took them. I have never cloned in rockwoll before, always used water cause I planted in dirt.. This is my first real hydro grow. The next batch of clones are going straight in the bubbler. That should work.
But after they sprout roots, I have to figure out how I'm going to put them in to netpots and hydrotion.

i would recommend some lst'ing to those bushes..just tie em down to expose more budsites to light. you could get more branching this way and more clones to practice on.
