Transplanting a large mother from inside to outside

I have a mother plant that I started from bag seed back in August. It has been good to me, and given many clones, but I noobily put her in a 10g pot and she has outgrown my tent. I have to prune mountains of growth off of her just to keep her under control. I have a new mother that I took from her clone, so I'm giving big momma to a friend to put in his outdoor garden. Given the time I have spent and the certain emotional attachment I have for the first seed I ever sprouted (MagicMark #1), I want to make sure it doesn't get put in the ground and dies in the first week.

She is in 1/1/1 soil/verm/perl, and has had a normal feeding schedule @ 6.5pH with Jacks 10-10-10 for the last several months.

Are there any special precautions to take when dealing with a more mature plant when transplanting outdoor? My friend has grown outdoor before, so I don't doubt his abilities, but he has always started outdoor with seeds or seedlings, so I thought I should ask. She has a trunk like a tree and a great root system.

Thanks,
MM

Harden it off like prescribed above. When you finally put her into the ground, make sure to loosen the root ball like any established nursery plant. This might even mean cutting it top to bottom with a knife. you want that new root growth for her to thrive in her new home. Make sure to water her frequently after you loosen the roots.
As one of my coworkers always says: water the piss out of it.
Good luck bro, hope it works out well for your friend. Wish I had friends like you lol

I agree with these two, harden her off and water the shit out of her...."SuperThrive" works wonders too, I use it religiously in mj and vegetable garden when transplanting...can be had at any nursery or Home Depot/Lowes for reasonable price...smallest bottle will last multiple seasons

hi-what is this "harden off"-never heard this?

If you bring her outside and leave it, the new growth will be a totally different animal, you will always be able to see where she took off from outside and the bottom indoor growth will be the weaker of the two.

Bring her out daily and she won`t be two different growths, she`ll gradually adapt !i It`s happened to me and it`s not a good thing !i

hardening off is the process of preparing a marijuana plant to get used to the outdoors, if not done correctly, plants will go into shock and growth will stop. its all about a gradual increase, start off by putting in shade outdoors, low winds, and the first first day maybe an hour, second day, couple hours or so, start introducing to natural sunlight. the sun is very powerful and can burn leaves that have been grown indoors.

Thanks for all the advice! I delivered her to her new home yesterday after hardening her for the past 3. He will give her 2 more days to harden and then transplant. I also took him some SuperThrive from my bottle to use until he can get his own. Now I have some square footage in my veg tent I get to fill up!
