transpiration problems

Ok so im using a humidity dome to start seedlings. How do you take it off with out killing them. Oh and heat mat to. I realize now why its not a good idea to use a humidity dome it causes transpiration. I want to out them in a hydro system

I take the humidity dome off after the first single blade leaves come out, I open the vents when the cotyledons pop. I've teken it off earlier than that, it won't kill them.

A humidity dome is a good idea when they are seedlings, who told you it was bad?

Humidity domes are great. Put the hygrometer and thermometer where your seedlings are and keep at 70%-80% RH and 70 degrees. Like goodtimes said when cotyledons appear open up vents to get RH down to 70 and a little air movement in the dome. First real leaf appears then take off dome spin it so now some air can get in Dome and RH will drop to 60 for a day. Then remove dome completely let them acclimate to each change slowly so they are not shocked. Good luck.

Thank you for the help I see whst I did wrong I waited to long to take the dome off. I know now to take it off when they first break ground. I waited till first true set and now im praying they make it. I brought the humidity up a little maybe they will make it

I work anywhere from 12 to 16 hours a day its hard for me to keep an eye on them. Atleast I know why ive had so many fails. I took me months to fugure out the transperation. Sad I know

I've grown many times without any type of humidity dome, if it is giving you that much of a problem maybe try popping them in a wet paper towel and planting them when the tap root comes out, then just let them grow without adding a humidity dome.

I personally think a dome is more important for clones than for seeds, but I have done both without using a dome. Never had a problem sprouting without a dome, only reason I use one now is because I have one, but for the first 3-4 years I grew I never used one and never had a problem...
