Transdermal patches

Any pharmacists or chemist out there know how they make these transdermal patches? I've made topical rubs that do help with localized pain/aches using coconut oil but bought one of these transdermal patches from the dispensary and was pretty impressed by them. I've read oils like jojoba are good carrier oils, and there are some proprietary transdermal bases out there that compounding pharmacies use out there to allow for transdermal delivery. Any one successfully make a true transdermal patch or gel at home?

Its hard to get enough cannabinoids in the matrix and release/absorb quick enough. It takes roughly 40x the amount to have the same concentration levels in the blood as smoking. And being the different route of administration, consider the diffrences in logp among the cannabinoids, cbd and cbn flux rates are higher-10 fold

You could pass a drug test while wearing a transdermal patch already on the market

It has much lower drug abuse potential. And could be great for certain "minor" ailments such as nausea or apetite stimulation, possibly going into others. It is much harder to go this route. Traditional dosing would be sublingually, rectally and inhalation.

You can also make an extended release hash pill pretty easy, you can make them last 48 hrs

A topical rub would be much easier and effective. If you already have a background in this perhaps not, but creating a stable patch can be tricky for first timers, even fairly experienced. Do you understand how they work? Dont take offense..just asking

If you want you can find transdermal patches and patents online, you can copy the procedures

Thanks for the reply. It makes sense what you say. I've found patents for certain transdermal bases but those are probably more for topical rubs. I take no offense, I guess I don't truly know how the transdermal patches work. I figure somehow it magically slowly releases the target molecule along with a bound carrier through the skin. They're pretty intriguing. Interesting info on still being able to pass a drug test using a patch, why is that?

Again a appreciate the reply, I like learning this kind of stuff. Minored in chemistry but we all know that means nothing :). Still very interesting.
