tracking torrents

I know there are companies who track and report people who download movies with torrents. they log a list of ip's of people downloading with the torrent, look up the isp, and send an email/letter to the isp. 2 strikes and you're banned for life.

does anyone know if the us government does anything like that with documents and video's in torrents about growing? do they take the trouble to contact isp's and get addresses? I read something on here about them ketching people buying equipment off ebay. what's the risk?

No... They don't. I've never heard of a court case where they have convicted someone using evidence coming from IP addresses through a tracker. It's free information about how to grow pot. That part is legal. Actually growing it is illegal. And since most people operate off of wireless networks that are either open or easily broken into, they don't bother with it.

I don't think medical is legal in my state yet. just trying to cover all my bases, plus the ones in a near by field. lol

there's a house up the road from me that the people often get in arguments with other neighbors further up the road. the police are often involved, and drive by my house. I've even had them shine spot lights in my yard more then once, and I've been at the house for almost a year. I have met some of the cops (state police actually). they aren't very good at their job. they don't seem to try or care. long story short, they "lose" evidence from car accidents
to avoid doing more work. I've seen it happen twice. once with my 3 week old car, and again with an under aged driver. both hit and runs and they knew who it was.

so anyway, I think my plans should keep me in the clear, as long as I'm not ever turned in. I was just worried that the police might use my ip address to trace my address and keep an extra close eye on the area.

No, they won't. The only thing you'd probably have to be worried about online is downloading a bunch of movies or songs and allowing people to download them from you.
