Topping

How many times do you top your plants and how deep into the flowering cycle?
I grow my 4 plants till they are 30 inches high measuring from the top ledge of the buckets. At this point I flip them into flower. During the veg cycle, I top them once a week and even one week into flower so usally as many as 6-7 times.

What I find is that I get more colas, but no big ones. What should I change?

Well, 1st thing is, I 4 sure wouldn't be topping any plants while there in " flowering cycle"!
This should only be done during "vegging cycle"! You can also "supercrop" while in
Veg stage. If you've never herd of supercropping, its a method to where you take
Your plants branches & bend them, "gently" back & forth, till you hear a "pop/snap",
Without breaking! This will cause your plant to form a knot where you bent it, & also
It causes the plant to produce way more "colas"! I normally do this along with "topping"
Throughout the veg cycle, on a select few of my strains.

I also Lst'd on these strains as well. I've posted a few pics 4 you to get a look
At them.

Hey bro. Yeah, I would. Because I've really never herd of supercropping during
Flowering. I mean cause the reason we do it in the 1st palce is to "make more"
Area's for bud sites. It causes the plant to form more branches the it would
Have if wasn't "SC". Here's ya a video to check out about it..

I think its really interesting myself. I plan on doing some crossing strains
Over Christmas & New years. I have some new spray that will cause a "female"
Turn male on the branches its sprayed on, causing it to throw "male" pollen
Sacks! So I can back cross the same genetics to the same.. I can't wait honestly!
Have you ever did any type of cross breeding?

flower production does not start immediately when switching to 12/12, topping, supercropping, lst can all be implemented in early flower. everybody says "no no no" but it can and has been done by many growers in the industry. man pick up books by Jefferey winterborne and you will see exactly what im talking about. i implemented suppercropping up to 14 days on my current run and sitting at about day 30 i would say it didnt hurt anything lol.

op topping a plant is meant to take the one larger cola and split it into multiple heads, i would say all in all you are prably topping to much weather it be in flower or veg. try topping once in veg and then doing a nice lst on them troughout veg and flower, when doing this keep them as short as possible. my vegging plants are currently 3 weeks in veg and are 12" tall and 20" wide and i will continue to widen them throughout flower.

pics are of my ladies currently, only 8 plants in a 4x8 each plants got about 12-15 main colas only topped once and suppercropped numerouse times in veg and flower.

Funny you have to ask yourself at some point "how did any advanced methods come around" I'm sure at some point someone broke a head off there plant and said a week later "wow my plant grew two heads" and all there friends said "don't do that it's bad for a plant" and looky now it's basically a standard lol, same with fimming hints the name fim (fuck I missed) lol. I love how narrow minded people can be, I don't even like arguing the point anymore I myself have done it and seen it done with great success, I would rather top my plant during the stretch (canopy control) vs having a burnt plant and numerous problems later in flower.

Mr. Dank Sir, you are so far ahead of me that I thought I was running first, but now I realize I'm at the back of the pack, lol.

Cross breeding? wow. Let me sink my teeth into topping and super cropping first, lol.

Thanks everyone, as usual, I'm just learning so that's why I rarely post, cause I have nothing to offer. lol.

Hey bro. Sorry 4 the late reply! Been really busy because of the holidays, family in & etc'!
That and having to tend to these girls, lol. I have 23 in vegging right now, & I have 12 flowering,
In the 4th week. So I have my hands full!

But don't think of yourself as "not having anything to offer bro"! I bet you could give
Valuable infornmation to a "newer" grower, that your ahead of. ;)
But yeah, crossbreading isn't all to hard to do, nor find your "groove" doing it.
Once you get the basics of general growing techniques, then all the other techniques
And tricks will fall into place, and at that time you will be able to do it & not even think
Twice about it! If you ever need any help, or have a question or anything, give me a
Hollar & I will do my best to help you! And by God, if I can't, will find someone who can! ;)
You take care bro.. happy holidays fella's! Happy 420. Later

Wow Dank, that is a nice responce. I will take you up on it if I need to. I

With that advice, today I supercropped several branches cause they were being burnt. lol. I am 24 days into flower.
