Nice healthy plant there. IN my experience (13 years growing) I have found that overall yield is never reduced by 'topping' or removing the main growing stem. What you do when you 'top' or LST or scrog a plant is simply to redistribute the growth energy lower down the plant, in effect spreading the yield across more tops which can be trained closer to the light source for maximum penetration. Remember if you do remove that WW top you can root that as another cutting :-) Think about LST too maybe? Pull that vigorous top right down to encourage lower branch development, thats another option.

Whilst I agree that big colas look impressive, from the practical constraints of a growroom point of view its often better to keep them short and bushy.

Hope this helps.

In all my years been around cannabis topping the plant does increase the yeiled a little but not much.i have grown two plants side by side one topped and the other with a single cola, the single cola was huge and i would say the plant that was topped was around the same weight.but i'm not saying that topping plants is a waste of time i always top 70% of my plants and let the other 30% grow on with one big cola.if you can get into growing the plants and makeing them have a 4/6 way split and top each one of the tops this is a great way of maxamiseing the yeiled.the plant thinks that each split is the main collar but instead of haveing one it has 4/6 and this can give some realy big yeileds.but i would say that by topping the white widow you will gain a little extra.

Outdoor i will top certain varietals that branch out. But some indicas grow short and little side branches. Imo it’s best to lollipop those and prune 1st 2 nd node off each branch so the inner part of plant gets air flow and noPM. Otherwise I too on the 5-7th node keep a few lowers and trim off the 1st real one and train them to be shape like field goal by using wire thru fabric pot and hooked onto new growth. Done right I be gotten much better girdles but certain kush plant just do better naturally with some LST and super toppings

Hey u still around…I guess you have 27 yrs grow experience now wow…
Damn
Be great to here some unusual stories etc from experienced growers !!!
This is a old thread.

White Widow pic
Topped at node#5, and LST wire trained 125 days old (started back in January as a joke, put a seed in one of my wife’s house plants), forgot about it next thing I know there’s a 6 inch plant…
I just let it go thinking I will stick it outside after Mother’s Day…we’ll it hung on now starting to flower.
I’ve read that WW can flower early if it’s Sativa Pheno shows up. I guess it did…
((I did have this under a purple blurple LED 180 wall watts pull 400w rated inside until I moved it outside))

Newbie Super Silver Haze after 2nd round of wire training & a good use of old corks & shish kebab sticks…
Pinching the fifth nodes today, which will give them 4 1/2 weeks till the summer equinox flips… & flowering time …yippie I yea.

Hey growmie from the looks of her she’s healthy but u may of had the led or light u used indoor to start her with too many hours of light. If u match it with a timer to the exact amount of daylight it will be outside on moms days he would have kept growing n not flower. She’s flowering cause it only getting 14 hours of sun instead of 16-18 whatever u had inside. She should reveg and and the. Flower again in September October. I know cause I’ve done this exact thing in past when I wasn’t thinking. Now all my starts are timed at for the same day and night cycle by time I out em out. That why most clone grained wait till june10 th bring the big clones outside for this very reason. There no losing only learning
