topping/cloning.

If I were to top at the 3rd set of nodes, could i go ahead and clone the top i cut? Will it work? Also, I was given a fire ass seed by an out of town buddy. The seed was passed to him by another buddy who said just grow it, trust me. I have no idea what strain it is. The plant is about 6" tall, no flowers yet obviously, but DAMN the leaves already stink like hell lol. If it is an autoflower strain I should know very soon under 24hr lights correct? I will post a pic. I should be close to topping now. I mean it is recommended to top at 3 nodes correct? I have 3 grown in with small leaves and a 4th barely showing leaves. Pics coming in a moment...

at 6" tall seems like youre only at your 4th node.. if you want to clone the top, let it grow until you get about 7 nodes then cut at the 3rd. you will have a decent cut to clone.

Yep pretty much. The 5th is starting but not a small branch yet. You answered my q though, I wanted to know if I "could" clone the main stalk. I will go ahead and let her grow another week so I have more plant to deal w/. If she turns out to be a ruderalis cross strain, is cloning even possible? I mean if they go right into flower it can't be advised right?

honestly ive never dealt with an auto but i have read about them and if i remember correctly, you can but they will finish the same time as the mother. i could be wrong though like i said, ive never dealt with an auto.
