Top heavy, to the extreme! Solutions?

So here's a problem I've been having that I didn't foresee. I'm 1-2 weeks away from harvest, so all of the colas are massive. But every time it rains, the buds become so damn heavy that the stalks either bend over or SNAP under the weight. I try to tie every thing back upright, but it's just a matter of time. The next time it rains every thing just comes crashing down in some other direction.
I'm sick of going out in the morning after a night of rain, just to find my prized plants on the ground.. too heavy to hold themselves upright. Granted the girls are 10ft. tall, but still!
Is there something I should do during the veg season to ensure this doesn't happen next year? I topped, I LST'ed.. but I didn't put any kind of netting over them. Is that why people do the scrog like netting during vegging?

Just get bamboo stakes at the height or even higher of the colas, and tie them to it. Should work out.

If you topped, LST and/or other methods of training i think you mentioned then you just have a monster strain, at 10 feet tall, just great genetics, heavy sativa, what strain?

I recommend shaking the plants vigorously once a day to encourage sturdier stems. This is a natural reaction the plant has to stand up to strong winds. Supercropping early on may help as well!

I always Get some plastic bags around my outdoor ganja just to make sure nothing hurts them !! If you are concerned only by the rain, then you can put the bags only when rainy time approches :) :leaf:

In this state, the weather is as unpredictable as the future.

Haven't heard that one before, thanks for the tip!

I live in an area that has a constant wind blowing through my garden. I have to put up wind blocks, but they still get whipped around a lot by the wind. I had 4 strains and for the most part all the stems and stalks were pretty sturdy but when the buds start stacking and then you get hit by a good rain shower you will definitely need some type of support. All my plants were tied up to stakes, very well supported, I thought , we got a hour long major downpour and it wreaked havic on my plants. When one branch goes its takes another, then another. I've learned, ill pay much more attention to tieing up my colas.
