Top growth is twisted

I'm wondering what you guys think is going on and if I have a problem. As you can see in the picture the new growth is twisted, small and growing slowly. The two most recent things I've done is add bush load to limit stretch and I switched to flower a week ago. Now I though maybe the new growth is slowed because of the bush load or possibly the switch to 12/12. What do you think?

Conditions I've already checked and are fine. Heat (78), light distance (>24"), humidity (55%), pH lockout (runoff is at 5.8) too much nutes (no nutes burn and I've flushed)

Now these girls are in 10 gal smart pots with coco nd get two light waterings per day off 1/4 nutes solution (400) ppm. I run botanicare and everything seems to be good. Lots of new growth spots and plants have vegged for 7 weeks so they are pretty big.

I also did some reading on nitrogen toxicity. Is that a possibility? I don't think I've given too much nutres

PH is 5? I don't know anything about Coco, but 5 sounds low, I was always told Coco likes hydro pH of 5.5-6. I could be wrong. N tox does do some wierd stuff like curling leaves into a claw shape and the leaves will be too green, very dark green.

2 1k hps lights and its 5.8 which is what hydro/coco is suppose to be at.

The new twisted growth is actually a lighter green

Oh OK, that makes sense, 5.8 and 78 degrees, the smiley face for the number threw me off a little lol

Hmm..boron or Molybdenum deficiency?

I'm guessing it's some form if micro nute deficiency

Doesn't look like a deficiency to me. I would stop watering for a day or 2 and see if they perk up. I wouldn't water every day unless you're oxygenating the roots, ie hydrosoil.

It is a soilless media so it dries out quick. But I will give that a try. One of the few things I haven't tried

Are you using coco coir? I really just think they look over watered. A day or 2 of non watering shouldn't do irreparable damage.

OK I'm gonna let e. Dry out a bit. And yes its coco coir. The whole plant looks healthy and perky except for the very top new growth

How long has it been in that container. You might just be seeing it react from being root bound. Whenever my plant appears to be doing inexplicable shit with its leaves I up pot it and she looks better within the week

Hmm well its only been in there for 3 weeks and I'm one week into flower so I don't really want to unpot them and shock them. But they are 10 gallon smart pots. I went from 3 gallon which were mostly fully rooted and healthy roots to the 10 gallon. About 3 weeks ago and this problem has been about 3-4 days.

They have always looked too yellow and skinny at the top. The strain is headband. I figured maybe it was the way this strain grew but what's going on now doesn't look good

Ya I dont think it outgrew that 10 gal. that quickly but damn that thing must have been tippy in a lil 3 gal. Do you feed a lot of high phos boosters? If you are maybe stop, they are notorious for locking shit out but as you stated ilooks pretty green so could be n toxicity. It is hard for me personally to say since I do not know what all products uou are running. You mention bush load, never really heard of that stuff

I run botanicare cns17 and I used a pk booster but only 7ml in a 5 gallon res.

Last couple feedings have not got the hydroplex. The only thing I recently added nutrient wise is liquid karma which has no npk

The pots are already super light so I think I'm going to flush again. That's usually my go to solution lol

Actually I've had some gnats. Only a few here and there but I just did a flush and seen there is a lot in the media. Baby's and such. So I'm gonna take care of that before I speculate any further

Also I have roots showing at the top of the soil. Doesn't look like they are reaching. Just within the top 1 and I can see them when I water

Maybe try top dressing with something like sand, heard it works well against gnats and will cover your roots from air, win win kinda deal lol

So far I have put up a few fly strips for the adults. And food grade H202 for the larvae in the roots

My concern now is the abundance of roots at the top soil. I usually keep the pot pretty moist which I thought led on the fungus gnats but after drying out the pots I have double the amount of roots showing at the top.

Now I have watered normal for a few days now and have noticed no difference.

Do you think the roots at the top would be from fun gas gnats and/or root aphids or what? These gnats are a biotch

That second photo was kinda shocking...the degree of yellowing up top.

That is N poisoning, IIRC.

I recall: yellow low means hunger while yellow high is too much N.

No expert in deficiencies.

Good luck!

P.S. I have to add that the other time that I see lots of bright green
up top is when everything is perfect and things are just growing fast.

Okay found out roots at the top are fine. Just a little searching on that and found some all the same answers

Now as for picture #1. That's what I'm concerned with. I'm 1 WK into bloom and the new growth is yellow and clawed downward.

Also I have taken care of most of the fun gas gnats. There were a lot in the pots.

Anyways what do you think about the way these new leaves are growing in
