So i have a california hash plant from dinafem that i started from seed 42 days ago and i have been flowering it for about 8 days now. Anyways, the girl is lush and healthy but i can't notice how bushy she is. the leaves are all jumbled up in the canopy and sweating on the adjacent leaves. every day i try to untangle and seperate them but everyday they get more mangled. i've noticed a lot of shoots coming off this plant where its having a hard time penetrating into the canopy.. anyways, shes a mold resistant strain so i am not paticularly worried about mold during flower. but i am do curious if its going to effect the yield by having all these leaves blocking light to her bud spot.

i've never had such a bushy girl before and i am unsure of what to do... i know you should never prune leaves but i think in this case i should because its restricting airflow and light, i mean either that or cut more bottom shoots off.

So should i leave it? lollipop? or prune leaves? i really want want to maximize yield because i am only growing in a 2x4x6 tent. IMG_0858.JPG IMG_0860.JPG

You shouldn't have asked us 8 days into flowering, I'll tell you that. You probably should have vegged for less time in that area. Also, the first round of lolipopping is done on switch to 12/12, and another 1 week in.

well i trimmed some undershoots before i 12/12ed but that didn't seemed enough. now i am letting them grow out because instead of trimming the undershoots, i LSTed her some more. the results are better than i expected... more shoots and more canopy. i repositioned most of the younger shoots as much as they'd reach so most of them should be within 3-5 inch from top canopy. i mean a 600w HPS is got to penetrate through 3-5 inches of foliage right? the light is currently 11 inches from the plant.IMG_0869.JPG IMG_0870.JPG

I'm not gonna say you should or shouldn't defoliate and take my opinion with a grain of salt but:

If you defoliate it could help you out, as other people have said that question raises so many different opinions and I haven't had the opportunity to experiment with it myself, so I imagine popping off some foliage would either make it go for better or for worse.

If you don't defoliate I imagine you are simply letting the plant grow a little more naturally than it is (which is not very tangible so that doesn't really mean anything but i'm sure you get the point). So if you don't defoliate you have neither the opportunity for improvement nor do you have the potential for it causing issues.

I guess its a risk vs reward thing until you have had the opportunity to experiment yourself

If any two growers with the same defoliation opinions defoliated a plant, i'm sure they would still do it slightly different.

i LSTed the branches too closely so the leaves were all mangled with each other causing the thick canopy. i re-arranged all the leaves from the bottom up so they are in their correct position, i also helped the plant out by picking off a couple of the lime green leaves from the bottom. she looks a lot better now, with so many more shoots rising above the canopy. personally i would never cut healthy growing leaves... but tucking some away seems like the best idea so far

you can leave it how it is if you are in flowering. just occasionally check to make sure the lower buds in the inner growth don't throw balls.

I have the same problem... well, not really a problem. this is a pic of my 2 CK only 1 week into flower, these fuckers bush and stretch like no other and caught me a bit off guard when I flipped the switch. I think as long as you have good ventilation its completely fine. I have a 435CFM inline fan and 2 regular fans at the bottom circulating the air and pushing it up. However, I also defoliate the bottom leaves... the way I see it is that if they're barely getting any light why keep em around?

Hahaha if I find balls I am pinching her balls off and throwing her in a vat of isopropyl to extract every female sticky goo she's got left. And yeah dude, I figured to leave my leaves alone because they turn yellow and fall naturally. The only reason the foliage was mangled as fucked because when I LSTed her I never defoliated the fan leaves.

Your pictures got so many bud spots, r u in week 2? I got 1 day left till week 2 so I am doing a final popcorn shoot trim today haha

You are absolutely the worst member in here with your immature quotes. I've seen you all over this web site. How about laying low until you have something quantifiable to add....(look it up)
