TOO hot in my room. please help

Ok guys I have a nice size grow room with 2- 400 watt hps, a Co2 system, fan, and 2 ebb and flow systems. ..... i noticed that my buds are slowing up and I am just seeing vertical growth and not bud formation. I think its way too hot in my room. WHAT SHOULD I do? Can I save my plants and have them produce buds? Should I just grab a portable air conditioner? I see they can get very expensive....thanks for help!!!

Get a portable AC unit. 8,000 btu should work well enough for only two 400s. If you plan to change to larger, or more powerful lights later on though, make sure to get a 10,000 btu unit or larger.

Are you sure you have a light proof "night time" condition? What temps are you running? Co2 gives you more head room and should actually be a little warmer to ultimately utilize

An AC unit will cool that space right down no doubt, but I have never used one in any of my grow configurations. It is an expensive purchase (new most good equipment is), and lets face it an AC unit is not that cheap to run.

Do you have a vented hood, is it hooked up? Are you saying your water temps are high also?

Sorry so many questions and no answers, there are so many variables.......Let us know JR

Its light proof at night. I don't know what my water temp is but I am sure the room is over 85. My hood is not vented and my ballasts are in the same room. I never had such temps before....

400's are hot, thats why I only use one light per area and 400's and over need to be vented out of the room if you ask me. Get the ballast out, it won't make much of a difference but will help. You should keep you water under 69 F. Get a thermometer so you can get a true feel of whats going on in there, something accurate...Let us know JR

And at 85 with Co2 you should be ok,that's if you are on top of the correct amount of Co2 you are adding. Much hotter and you will start to see problems from heat srtess I think.......JR

If you're using co2 you want your room to be sealed, and only exhausting when the co2 is off.

I've read you want to keep it at about 1500ppm while the lights are on, and no input of co2 while lights are off.

Too much ppm instability and they wont make full utilization of the co2, so you should probably invest in environmental controllers.

Checked the TEMP today. around 83. Maybe its not that bad..... Why do you have to exhust when the lights are off? I never have before and got great results. Can you recommend some enviornment controls? Should I get one that is Temp/Humidity/ppm?

jarrett, what week flowering are you? i left you a messege in my page, first 3 weeks of flower is all stretch, keep using grow nutes for this period, switch to bloom nutes at first sight of flower sites, also you NEED TO CHECK WATER TEMPS! look at your roots, they must be bone white, as for temps, you need to have water under 75F, if you got root rot from high water temps this will stop your grow to a dead halt

There is a formula for figuring the amount of co2 per square foot. What size is your room? JR

yeah. i start first cycke with light on, 30 min exhaust at 11, another 30 min exhaust at 2. For those of you using constantly exhausted cooltubes, i dont know what to say, if you want CO2 enrichment your going to use alot of co2.

Balancing not venting and heat buildup is a bit of a trick... really depends on your local/house environment.

Maybe I just got concerned too fast. I am in 4 th week of flowering and my widow that was hiding in the back is looking great. Other strains are a little slower, like my super lemon haze...Could just be the strain

jarrett, at this point your mostly indica strains are gonna slow to a halt, that haze is gonna keep going though, not sure about her flowering time, but a sativa is gonna go, especially 4 weeks in, as for co2 and cooltubes, the benefit of having an enclosed hood is being able to evacuate hot air from the enclosure without disturbing the air in the room, doidledigger, you must have one side of your tube open ended and its exchangeing the room air along with heat from the light bulb, this is not an efficient method of enrichment, im gonna go dig up one of growtech's posts about room designs and you will see ideal setups
