Hi,

i have a bloom room that is 2x4 meter and i run 2x400w hps.

Some hot days it runs up to 35 degrees and i need to shut of one of the lamps and run only 400 w

this does not cover all the plants so its not the best solution. I am wondering about getting som LED and found som secret jardin LED that is spessial for bloom.
Anyone got any experience with theese? how many would be best to use? Can they sit tight together?

What is your grow setup?

Intake from?
Exhausting to?
Fan positions?
Exhaust fan?
Intake fan?
Carbon filter?
where is your grow room located?

Intake from? Hallway
Exhausting to? Closet in hallway
Fan positions? 3 fans on the cannopy
Exhaust fan? 250m3
Intake fan? Holes in door and around window
Carbon filter? 400m3
where is your grow room located? In a attic with low walls (0,5 meter on sides and 220 center)

I think you’re fan is most likely your issue.

I use an RVK150A1 on a speed controller for my single open 400w system. It’s 460m3/h

Also what kind of bends in ducting do you have?

Let’s work this out properly.

You use 2x400w which is enough for a 3ft X 6ft active growing area.

you’ve got a 250m3/h fan.

as soon as you add a carbon filter you lose 20% of your fans power ability.

so now your fan is 200m3/h.
Any 90 degree bend in ductwork reduces a further 10% off your fans power ability.

for every light you need to add 10-15% more fan power.

so your

1m x 2m active growing area x2 for extraction twice a minute. 1x-3x is recommended per minute.
That’s 120m3 x2 for just your active growing area.
Then the carbon filter 240/100= 2.4*20% for your filter 288m3/h before any lights have been added.
Let’s take each light at 10% required per light.

(240/100)*10 = 24m3/h per light.

48m3/h extra for your lights.
336m3/h up to now and that’s before ducting bends and lengths of runs.

see where I’m going with this?

With all being said if your attic area is already warm your tent will also heat up due to the ambient temperatures around the tents location.
So it would be good to know the temps in your attic and whether it’s been converted to a living area as in fully insulated etc.

Before you go any further...are you aware that if you DIY LED lights for that amount of space that it’s going to cost you close at least $2700? If you go with ready to hang lights you’ll be looking at anywhere from $3,000 - $5,000.

Ah im with ya now, the closet is a separate floor to the grow.

Air cooling would require new lights by the look of what you have.
Still be a cheaper option than going with LED and should bring you around the same benefit as far as heat reduction goes.

The LEDs will save you some electricity , if you go that route then do your research and I don't mean read amazon reviews.

Use a dimmible ballast take the 400w down to like 250w maybe?
Buy a cheap aircon unit mate

Im using LED atm mate 1st time ever and tbh it's keeping it cool but im switching back to my hps soon and will probably keep the LED in there too for the extra spectrum

Hi,

i am not too good with numbers, but i see what you are saying :)

i have the option to switch between 250 and 450m2 on my extraction, but 450 does not help with temp, so i keep it on 250 for less sound

Yeah, aircondition is probably a good idea. But i am a bit hesitant about making a hole in the wall that goes outside.
If your gonna make a hole to vent the air con out you’d just be as well making a hole and venting the hot air straight out? Try that first anyway.
