To those who think the death of one black man is sparking riots....

This isn't about one dead man. This isn't about one murder. This isn't about race relations. Though those are mortally important issues.

Beating up helpless old men. Shooting pepper shot into peoples houses.

This is about facism and brutality against ALL citizens who stand apart and protest injustice; or who just st on their front porch and watch the world go by. Police feel unbound right now. The state won't touch them. The feds won't touch them.

They WILL come for you when they feel like it. They won't need an excuse, and there will be no constitution stopping them this time.

That's what happens when you don't have the option of using competitive security and one organization holds a monopoly on security. There is no accountability. In any other kind of market when services are provided if you don't like the service you can seek it elsewhere and / or stop paying the poor service provider. What makes policing exempt from that ?

Wonder where are "gun control" fanatics are hiding now ?

Whatever happened to asking politely? If those white protesters decide to hold another anti lockdown "protest" next week armed to the teeth, just to rub it in, will it be any different than the last time? Will they be treated like enemies by militarized police with armored vehicles? Or scream in cops faces from a foot away, while armed to the teeth and dressed like soldiers in combat. Curfew does not mean you cannot sit on your own front porch, or look out the door onto the street, the cop who fired that round into the house should be fired and prosecuted, next year if required. The guy who commanded the response needs to be removed as a fascist idiot.

"You have to dominate or you'll look like a bunch of jerks, you have to arrest and try people," the President told governors in a call from the basement White House Situation Room. In the conversation, which also included law enforcement and national security officials, Trump also emphasized it was his belief the violence is being brought on by forces from the "radical left". "It's a movement, if you don't put it down it will get worse and worse," Trump said. "The only time its successful is when you're weak and most of you are weak."

We all now what plan is, Donald is a simple guy and it is a simple plan with a simple message for simple people.

Try to educate and foster understanding and not inflame the situation, or add to unnecessary social division, there is enough necessary division now. Only make the enemies you need to, there are plenty of assholes who need your attention more than those fighting for their country against a common enemy! Set aside your own issues when there is something bigger at stake.

I try to set aside some of my own interests and issues for the greater good too, I don't like the drone laws and regulations (RC Model too), but I recognise and obey them (to a reasonable degree!), this rapidly evolving technology represents a danger to society if left unchecked. Here is an example: Someone with good skills and RC model experience today and knowledge easily acquired online quickly, could build a cruise missile for not a lot of cash, in a garage. I won't be as big or as capable as a real one, but it will get the job done and would be hard to detect (stealth) or destroy, it would be fire and forget to. I can explain how to do it, where to get the parts and even provide instruction online. It would be good enough to do Donald if ya knew where he'd be, I could even EMP proof the fucking thing and it would carry enough plastic to do the job. It would use not just GPS but other navigation systems as well, to provide even greater target accuracy and terrain following capability, as it twisted and turned on it's way point mission to termination. The brains cost under $200 and they ship from China and are called flight control computers and Navigation modules to hook up to them.

That's one reason I support drone laws and regulations, besides people being regular idiots, it cramps my style, but I understand the need. Gun laws are no different.

that's why he's sitting in the basement of the WH in the dark..sniper shot..this possibly can't last 5 months they're already at the front door- secret service should toss him out if they know what's good..MAGA? i don't see any MAGA in that DC crowd..guess it's not MAGA night anymore.

good:clap:

following the protests, one of which outside the White House caused TRUMP* and his family to retreat to an underground bunker on Friday night:lol:

Seems as if the coincidences are stacking up. I'm always leery about conspiracy theories. So, won't jump to a conclusion. Haven't ruled anything out just yet.

BEFORE Philando Castile was killed by a cop during a routine traffic stop, Philando Castile's uncle was working on a task force to address police brutality on black people in Minnesota. Clarence Castile was appointed to the task force by the governor BEFORE Philando Castile was killed by a cop. His nephew was killed while obeying the cop's order to reach for his wallet and hand him his driver's license. It sure does seem like an odd coincidence. Sometimes things like this do "just happen". But they are rare and less common than malicious acts of violence that is intended to do harm.

There was no justice for Philando:
On June 16, 2017, Yanez was acquitted of all charges. He had been charged with manslaughter and reckless discharge of a firearm. After five days and more than 25 hours of deliberation, the 12-member jury decided that the state had not met its burden for a conviction.

Then there is this truly horrific act of what sure does seem like the torture and murder of a black man in front of a crowd of witnesses. I don't know but it sure does seem like an odd coincidence that a cop could do that in the same city where. Coincidences do happen but they are rare and less common than deliberate acts of violence.

Ferguson comes to mind and the inquiry in the aftermath was instructive and I'm afraid stereotypical of a much broader problem that everybody knows about. Next year might bring new people with different perspective to power, if they don't demonstrate this, those who helped put them there will want to know why. It better not be to pander to some racist good ole boy asshole, who has a sore asshole over losing his white privilege, unless there is a good strategic reason to do so, but even then...

The existing law and social infrastructure are good enough for now, provided the right people are put incharge of the levers of power. Gradual change over a few election cycles might be the most effective, with priority given to gaining and maintaining power long enough for educational and demographic changes to take effect on the society and electoral balance. You'll win in the end by whittling away at the whites and reducing the number in the tribe.

Or just keep hitting them until you squash them like the bugs they (racists - especially racist cops) are. No tolerance. No bridges. Just hard time.

I'm done trying to make people's feelings not hurt because they are douche's.

I did not say to compromise with evil, merely to think strategically and not excite the base too much and drive them into tribalism. You want to cook them like a frog starting in cold water gradually increasing the temperature, not plunging them into the boiling water where they might jump out!

The democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time, all the bills are already on Mitch's desk and more will come and when Mitch goes they will be on a democrat's desk again pretty quick. This is about law enforcement and the right people in the DOJ can do a lot, besides huntdown Donald and his minions. After the basics and big things like coronavirus and economic recovery, these are the priorities, but they can also happen at the same time policing is looked at and changes for the better are enacted and enforced. Win first, and win it all, by as much as you can, priority #1, nothing changes until Donald and the GOP are gone.

I've been dealing with feelings like yours ever since a white supremacist murdered two and nearly killed a third person for protecting two girls, one black and one Muslim, when he menaced them on a public transit train. It happened in 2017. Since then, right wing fascists have made regular pilgrimages to our fine city to fuck with us. They aren't welcome here. Hundreds of them fly in from all over the country or drive here from neighboring states and we have our own home grown ones who come here too. They come here to march in our streets, carry nazi flags, wear kkk regalia and to project right supremacist power. We've met them every time. To block their marches and counter-demonstrate to show the Portland is not theirs. We show up in the thousands.

The cops protect those guys. Imagine the scene. These guys train and work out. They wear armor. They carry weapons and shields. They even tried to set up a sniper's nest on an upper floor of a parking garage but that was too much even for the cops. They were told to disperse but allowed to keep the guns. We are 5 times their number. We could turn them into a greasy spot if we wanted to. Our crowd are not fighters. We don't carry clubs or wear armor. We have milkshakes. We have clowns. We have people in wheelchairs. The few who do engage the fascists are skinny boys and girls wearing fashionable black clothes. We also have a brass band. It's a spectacle on our side. An angry mob on the other. In-between, the cops face us, with their backs to the angry mob. Go figure.

If we engaged their violence with the same, it would be falling into Trump's, the cops and the right wing's trap. They would have an excuse to escalate police and military presence. So, instead, we block them, we stop them and when they begin to throw punches at the brave antifa in the front lines, it gives our mayor the excuse to pull the permit for their demonstration. Within hours, the streets are cleared. The fascists go home dissatisfied.

It's enough for now. This summer is going to get nasty but I'm actually optimistic that we've figured out a way to get through it without the kind of losses that those fascists want to inflict. We get to the next election and maybe we take power away from the right. If we don't, then we hang on until we do.

Hearts and minds first and if that don't work... This is a social war and that is how you win it, both sides have an audience (jury) who will ultimately decide, we've seen what the other side is and represents and it ain't pretty, very bad PR for them. This time the bigots are all in one place, the republican party, no need for the democrats to pander to them as in the past, the middle has disappeared and that is a good thing, polarization need not be bad. This time there is no need for token blacks or promises, the African Americans (and all minorities) have got a firm grip on Joe's balls and the levers of power. If they don't get justice and change to the extent it is wise and timely, they will start squeezing the nuts of those in power, they are in a similar position as the loonies in the GOP, except they are patriotic and sane, smarter too.

Changing the government in America is necessary to solve a host of problems, the nation has been in legislative statis for a decade, that's not seen meaning full change on many fronts, despite large majorities wanting these changes, the government has failed to respond to the needs of the people for decades. The problem has become acute with Donald, but is an intensification of a longer on going process, Donald exploited what he found, he didn't create any thing new, he has no imagination for that. America is now leaderless in the midst of an unprecedented national catastrophe, mostly of Trump's creation. The social problems of health care, racism and others have been put on ice for too long, many of these social issues were settled decades ago in most other developed countries.

However most of America's social problems are not caused by the government, which can either intensify them or reduce them depending on policy choices. This is a societal problem of historic origin and has a lot of historical baggage attached to it, it is a problem with known solutions, proven in other places. Education is a big factor and public education too, so is reducing the level of stress in society so people are not in as negative a mood of mind as much. Healthcare, social programs (economic security) and reducing gun violence are all examples of how this can be done, the problem is one of individual attitudes at its most granular level and if you can change the emotional state of people you will go a long way to improving the world. Mindfulness (Mind/body science) taught in schools as part of home room could transform American society in a decade or two and reduce teacher burnout too, teach emotional education like PE, for health and well being. It also counters the effects of screen time and social media. Make a better country by making better people and citizens, this is no quick fix, but a long slog.

For those involved in the future of children, have a look, many schools do it already.

A race war is exactly what the Neo-nazis want. Let's not give them what they want.
A race war is a distraction and unnecessary. We need a war of ideas, which will require more critical thinking and less "tastes great" / "less filling".
