I just disagree with you about it not being different than drug seekers getting chemical drugs. Do you not believe that mj, being a natural substance and typically used unadulterated in any way, should be legal for all? I do, and I also believe that people getting "recommendations" for medical purposes is a step toward that.
I think what Steve French is saying is that not all reasons people play the "MMJ card" are legit. Yes, getting "recommendations" for medical purposes is a step in the right direction.....but how long are the other MJ users that can't get MMJ cards supposed to sit idly by, while many, many people clearly abuse it......and some of those people come on sites like this and act all high and mighty that they do it "legally" and frown upon people that grow MMJ for financial purposes....or personal use but are not legal.

These same people that tend to look down on non-card holders.......I am willing to bet some of them people were members of RIU long before they were ever approved for their MMJ cards......where did they get their smoke before that? If they grew it themselves, but didn't hold cards, they were in fact in violation of the site rules. Or they purchased their smoke from people that grew/grow for reasons other than just legal medical reasons.

Things are heading in a positive direction (even look at TV programming and the changing attitude about legalizing) , but it seems to put a divide between your typical MMJ users (those who partake "illegally"), and those who hold cards....either legitimately, or for some bullshit made up reason their doctor fell for.

Up until the MMJ card even came around, we were all in the same boat.......now not so much.

I don't look down on people who don't have a card. As I mentioned before, I think the card is ridiculous. Anyone without a criminal background can get one without much trouble. It is very difficult to say what ailments should qualify as "worthy" of medical marijuana. Since it considered a medication, there has to be a process for prescribing it. I don't necessarily agree with this but I do think it has some benefits. I don't think it's right to say one person should be able to get it and another shouldn't. Unfortunately, in order to get smoke legally you have to get a script, to do this you either have to have an ailment or make one up. If you prefer not to do this and buy on the street, that is your choice. I don't understand why anyone would go that route in a state where you can get it legally?? It doesn't make sense to risk getting busted when you can smoke legally for $40 a year.

i think it's great if regular users in states that can't get medical mj grow their own stuff. much better to grow than to depend on dealers and put money into the pockets of other people. Plus when you grow, you know what you're getting.

Maybe eventually you can go to a weed bar and smoke and all you need is ID showing you're 21, like you can with alcohol but right now, you need a prescription. It's not perfect but I think it's a step in the right direction.

Fair enough, and not pointing the finger at any one user on this site (and definitely not you, but I could point to a fair number of users here). But the fact is, the VAST, and I mean VAST majority of users have ZERO options when it comes to MMJ cards.

And many will suffer because of this inequity....either by lack of "medicine" and/or jail time/fines.

I am by no means saying people shouldn't use the option legally or by technicality if they can....I would, but at the same time, I wouldn't talk down on a person for growing commercially or for strictly personal use despite not holding a card. And that DOES happen on this site.

This threads awesome I always wondered how many people on here were actually smoking for medicinal reasons, I personally smoke to get high and fucked up but its a different fucked up like when I drink to party I can barely walk sometimes but with weed its nice and can be done daily without damage being done it just feels good.

damn.. you don't know how much i really appreciate that post devil dog.. i feel the same exact way that you do.. i'm sooo tired of feeling like i'm being looked down upon because i smoke and grow for the reason that i like to get high and not for some medical condition.. i feel it all of the time on this site, and a couple of others that i'm on..
and you couldn't be more right about mmj dividing marijuana users as a whole.. i could care less about the mmj cause.. why can't they just make it legal straight across the board and not make it be medical?? that is just retarded in my eyes.. and don't take me the wrong way, i would never say that marijuana doesn't have a medical benefit.. i have no problem with that.. but at the same time, what is wrong with smoking just to get stoned?? nothing in my eyes..
idk, i'll end my rant here.. just wanted to let you know devil dog that i feel you, and couldn't agree with that post anymore if i'd tried.. really good stuff..

I get high. That's the point. Although I found it very interesting that if I have an upset stomach, like seriously sore, and I take a bong rip, it relieves the pain almost instantly. Now, I don't know if the effect is purely psychological, but if it helps that's all that matters.

I just hope I live long enough to see the day when people don't give a shit about weed. It is such a polarizing subject when it really shouldn't be.

I mostly grow just for the fun of growing, I do enjoy smoking every now and again. I prefer to turn my crop into hash rather than smoke bud as well. I orderd some auto's during the Attitude promo (mostly just to get a pack of seeds they forgot to send me during a different promo) and am going to see if I can just have them self themselves over the course of a few years on a secluded part of my property. Maybe I will throw in some Chem 4 pollen for them. Eitherway I'm high as all holy heck this morning.
