To FIM or to Top... that is the question.

Hey all.
Going to be running a single plant in a new setup. 3x3x6 tent, CLW Solar Storm 440, single GH Water Farm (drip ring system), Lucas Method with GH Flora Micro and Flora Bloom (with some silica blast, calmag and Hydrogaurd thrown in for luck), 2 teir scrog.
My question is, in this environment would I be better off FIMing or topping or just rely on training? I already plan on using LST throughout veg to get some spread before it even hits the scrog, and I know I'll need to force some top production, just not sure if I should FIM or top.
Anybody with experience in both (I've only topped in the past) have any advice?

Screen of Green. Kind of like sea of green technique except you use a screen (can be chicken wire, a grid of string, or netting) to manage the canopy. the idea being to get a uniform, fully filled out canopy of tops to maximize light to the bud site.

I would think top or fim would produce the plant your looking for. I have plants I topped and fimmed I can show you what they look like. Just put the in flower two days ago.

Have you noticed any difference in the recovery time between the two methods? Or a difference in the total effect of veg time?

They each take a day or two to recover and get growing. Do one cola on each point see how well they respond20161207_182033.jpg
Here are mine.

Topping is also a useful means of controlling plant height, even into late veg, and encourages new foliage lower down the branch.

Personally I find fim a game of accuracy and a tough one at that.

If you're going 4-6 week veg or more then topping is easy and predictable.

Top above the second mode early on to get 4 main colas.

Experiment with both and see what you prefer.

Haha! Me too! doesn't traditional topping also create a bush? Not trying to be a pain in the ass, just sincerely curious.
I have had great success with fimming my girls! I prefer it over topping for the efficiency does my yield justice. I like the 4 new colas over the 2 new colas for new growth, I found dope tips on this Canfinder app check it out for future reference. Hope it helps !!

Nice! Thanks much!
I find she bounces back from fim faster then topping. imo
That is exactly the kind of info I was looking for! Much appreciated !

In the end you get the same yield, you get more smaller bud when you fim.You get fewer bigger buds when you top.I tried both and prefer to top my plants, but to each his
own.
