To fim or not to fim...?

Ok guys I did some checking up on this on the net and this site and there are two ways this can go.

option one is topping:
you cut the top off and the next two branches down will start to grow up and become your new main stems.
The 1st pic has the guys fingers showing where you would cut if you wanted to top the plant.

The 2nd option is Fim'ing:
Make the cut below the center of the node, leaving about 10% intact. This is the key, because the vegetation left behind has cells that are rapidly dividing in many different directions. This can lead to as many as EIGHT tops from a single pruning.
the other two pics show how to FIM the plant

I got these pics from an article I found on this site.

Has any one done this and can you confirm it?
I want to do it to my plant but only if it's going to work.

Thanks:peace:

I tried fimming my pepper plant just a couple weeks ago or so and it worked amazing! I got 4 new stems, and those ended up splitting a couple nodes up as well. It was so easy too. That first pic shows a perfect example of what it looks like. I just took a clean razor blade and cut off like 3/4 of the new growth in the center there. It was nothing more than like 1cm of a couple tiny leaves, and that's all it needed! I'd try fimming. It's ridiculously easy and the results are sweet.

ok cool.

now have any of you done this out side in an uncontrolled environment?
I grow outside and my plants are subject to natures wrath. I had a plant develop mould on the top once. it started on the top and kept going and there was nothing I could do to stop it.
what do you think?

This is a great reason to FIM. you can just pic the bad bud off and you still have a bunch more. I just FIMd my mother plant. Going from 4 tops to who knows how many. It's a Tangerine Dream x Super Lemon Haze and I hope to get a monster out of it.
