To cut the roots or to not cut the roots?

Ok so i got root rot before i started flowering and got it taken care off. New roots came threw and plants looked great and then they got a white snot looking substance all over them. Its either fungus or Algae. I fixed the problem by lightproffing the res and keeping the res temps down. However the white gunk is still there. I now have another set of roots looking strong and 100% healthy coming through my net pots and alot of them are hitting the res or are about to. Im nervous they will get this white gunk on them since its still all over my older roots (which im pretty sure are dead). Would you suggest just cutting all these dead nasty gunky roots off and letting my new ones grow or just try to clean them off and let all the roots be as they are? I know cutting the roots will slow the plant down but i think there dead and if there not there nasty as hell. Im 2 weeks into flower so if im going to cut roots i would do it asap before it gets to late. +rep for any help all ideas appreciated thanks!! Here is my grow journal if you want to see exactly what all has gone on with the roots the problem starts around page 7 or 8

There might be come white under all that gunk but i have a new set of roots coming in and there already hitting the res and the nasty roots come out the botom of the net pot and the new ones are coming out the sides of the net pot so it would be easy to just clip the big ass clump of roots and white snot looking shit right off. I dont know if there truly dead

Do you think they're hurting anything? If you kept them there, would they harbor bacteria? I've had roots that died on me too but the plant is quite resilient in that it had already produced more roots. If they're dead, cut them out. If you're not sure, I don't think they're hurting anything.

They still have the white gunk all over them so im thinking that they could spread it to my new healthy roots that are just strating to hit the res and i dont want that. That is why im thinking about cutting them. I dont know if there completly dead or not but if there is white shit all over them i feel like it could probly spread it to my new roots if there is still all the white gunk on the roots which are sitting in the res and my new roots are just hitting the res now
