to cut or not to cut

Got a few plants going - 7 weeks old now, 12" tall and healthy. Grew from seed in soil and don't know the strain.

Soon they will go into flowering to determine sex. My question is, can I take some cuttings from these plants and then throw them (the plants - not the cuttings) into flower right away? Or do they need some recovery after I cut from them?

I suppose I could re-veg them after flower and then take cuttings at that time?? advice?

searched but couldn't find an answer...

can take and flower right after taking clones
make sure to mark what clones came from what plant so if one is males you can get rid of the big one and the clones at the same time just makes it alittle easier
i use unknown 1, unknown2, unknown 3 etc. mark the big plant and the babies with the same number use different numbers for every plant

why do you want to flower so early?

I'd cut now and wait another week and a half and then start the 12/12.
This way the plant veg's a bit longer AND has time to heal..

I would strongly recommend NOT taking your plants out of flowering after that cycle is induced. I know from experience on this: the plant will live, but it will often grow strangely and not very well, and at the end of it if you decide to flower it anyways, it will not produce NEAR the bud you would hope for. Go with your original instincts: take cuttings, take snotts advice on numbering them, and flower them all the way. Throw out the males as you go.

Not in a hurry to flower so I will take the cuttings and then veg for another week or two. My next question is, how many cuttings can I take from a plant this size? I was thinking 4-6 per plant. This will be my first time attempting cloning so I hope to get %50. I'm going to go the rockwool way.

I dont have pics but there are 6 node sights on two and 7 on the other.

yes if you take 4 to 6 cutting off a 12" plant it will stress it ! i found this out the hard way it took over 2 weeks for my plant to catch back up.

i use like the bottom two or 3 branches i grow mine to 15 " are 3' when half way thru flowering but i grow in a home made grow box so i need to keep it small

If i were you i would take an extra cutting from each plant and switch to 12/12 as soon as it roots. THen you can sex the big plants without having to waste light / nutes/ space for the fathers. Just my .02 if you are in no hurry to flower.

I looked at the pre-flowers and decided 2/3 were females (one only had one white hair coming out while the other had two white hairs-- that mean anything?) so I took two cuttings each from those.

The third I'm not sure about so posting a pic to get your opinions before I take cuttings from it or toss it or wait longer. It looks like a male preflower to me.

The branching looks cool, I may give it a go later down the road...

Not too knowledgeable but I had a couple that looked just like that and almost chopped em. Two days of flowering and the white hairs were all over the place. Hate for you to waste a gal. Maybe someone else with more experience will chine in.

Take the clones, put it in flower and watch it CLOSELY. Looks female to me. A lot of times in preflower they look male at first. In picture #1 the nub on the left sure looks male, but in a few days it will look like the one on the left. I'll bet if you wait a few days pistils will show
