Growing quality product is only the first part. You also have to be able to run a business in one of the toughest regulatory environments that exists.
Many excellent growers failed that second piece in the Medical Marijuana green rush. Numerous others closed due to excessive competition and lack of profitability.
Note that the lack of profitability is huge challenge.

In Colorado Springs, of the original 200 dispensaries, there are probably 50 left today. Be sure to factor that in to your plan. Those 150 that closed had dreams of huge success as well..

To summarize, it is not as easy as you think. But it can be done if you have the quality product, outstanding customer service, and piles of money to get off the ground. Slinging weed from your basement has no overhead, running a legitimate marijuana business has soul crushing overhead.

Good Luck to you if you decide to venture forth.

There are 204 dispensaries in Springs.

Excellent post, and advice! I have to laugh at all of the out of staters that think this is some kind of "Keep away from our stash and cash" scare tactic. It's not like we've seen thousands of people with crushed dreams driving with the rockies in their rear views before in the first "green rush".

The dispensaries are probably going to get first crack at recreational licenses.
I hear about so many people thinking they are going to move out here and make money growing weed. It is so cute.

One guy thinks he is going to sell his weed to dispensaries for $3200 a pound, because that is what he claims he gets in Socal, lol.

Move on out, everyone. Then when you are hit with reality you can mow my lawn for me, I'll pay you more than what you would make in the marijuana industry, $9 an hour.
Can I mow your lawn? I have my own mowing business lol.

I myself am moving out to colorado not for the green rush and to make millions but to continue my passion for this plant in a legal state and stay well within my state limits. I plan on continuing my own business and working as my disability will allow but in no way am I going out there to become no Hugh Heffner. It's people that are going out there to blow it up with thousands of plants on the mountains and their back yard that is going to fuck all this up for all of us and never make it legal for any of us.

Yeah it's called greed
And indeed the possibility for totally fucking it up for everyone else exists
people have been saying "fucking it up for everyone else" ever since cali first legalized medical use. i don't see anything getting fucked up. in fact it seems as if things are getting better every day.

Sorry for all the posts, but... those who are in it for the fiat currency we call the dollar, are logically against decriminalization.
