Tired of people say MG is not for Cannabis. I'm going to shut all of you up.

Basically I'm a newbie grower myself, so I was told use miracle grow, but don't overwater (about once every 2 days or as the soil about an inch down gets dry) and I won't have to add any nutrients at all for veg, and shouldn't as there are time release nutrients in the soil already, but when she's ready to flower I should simply add bloom nutrients and switch to 2700k lights on a 12/12 cycle. Seems pretty simple to me. Hope it all works out. I've heard the horror stories from doing exactly what I'm doing, but then I've heard the stories of when it's worked out with exactly how I'm doing it. The only thing I'm worried about is my topping technique, but I'm watching a lot of youtube videos on the subject. I got a single closet for a single plant and dimension are about 3'x3'x10', 4 cfl's 250w equiv, 3200 total lumens (5000k temp on the lights cause some growers told me they like the results better than the 6500k lights). I plan to veg for 2 months, and then flower for 2 months (cause it's an indica and I believe this strain "Ant's Revenge" is an 8 to 9 week flower).

So all that said, when I hear people say to not use it at all, I'm thinking for the newbie grower, I think it's just fine. First of all it encourages you not to water the damn thing all the time and you basically don't feed it shit but light and water for 2 months until it's time to flower. Sounded like a good way for a newbie, like me, to grow, especially if I couldn't necessarily check on the plant every day. I do have things to do ya know. I'm just growing cause I want to learn how to and cause I can legally in my state. I'm sure I'll probably move on like everybody else, and so far my baby is growing nice. I should probably start documenting it all in my own thread. Maybe tomorrow, depending on how much work I get done.

Pics of what? MG test hasn't started yet. If you want to see my current plants I started many threads and have many journal entries
Here are pics from last years grow, done entirely in MG MC Soil. I'm doing the same this year, and the plants are doing fantastic!

i do have to add this , some of the strains i have grown in the mg showed signs of over nute , burnt leaf tips and some curling , i stick with the strains that can handle the mix and once you do you'll see plants that are strong and keep their seed leaves for nearly a mo.

I did have some burnt and curled leaves on my last grow. The problem was, I used to many nutes, not realizing that MG MC Soil has built in nutes that last several months (when water is added). I also didn't PH Balance my water until about half way through the grow, so that may have contributed to some of my leaf issues.

This year, I've used nothing so far. I just PH Balance my water, and I'm about to use some Bloom nutes. After 5 weeks, with no nutes added yet, all 3 of my plants are doing fine. I just switched to 12/12 on Monday. 2 of the plants are almost 2 feet tall, and the other plant is smaller (12-14"), but VERY bushy.

I'm going to be extremely careful with feeding the plants this time, and so far, nice healthy budding is taking place. My closet space is limited and I only wanted to grow 2 plants, but the wife wanted a 3rd plant that was a VERY potent crop last year. So, I obliged

Mg is alright i suppose but why start with something that puts the odds against you. Sure there are some people who grow nice weed with it there are some people who use incorrect nutes/lighting etc that grow nice weed, the odds are you wont grow nice weed with mg, and if you can why not try and excel your self with using correct products. All the Mg grown weed plant pics ive seen in this thread arnt what you would call a advanced growers achievements, nice tho they are lol

so a MG grower comes to this site lookn for help... and you would tell him its his own fault and they could learn themselves? i hope you just get on the site to browse not post because this site should be trying to help the fellow grower. not turn them down because of their medium. i used MG MC soil my 1st grow and had excellent results. yes id like to try some better soil but for now it works great.

I have a good feeling that most people that hate on MG either have not used it and read horror stories and judge from those, OR had 1 bad experience with MG then decided not to try to fix the problem or try again doing something different and then jumped on the hate wagon.

I've talked to some pro's and they tell me basically the trick to using miracle grow soil is simply to remember to water every 3 days at most, including when flowering, and to only add nutrients during flowering cycle, never add nutrients during veg as MG potting soil usually has time release nutrients in it (check the package). I mean how hard can that be to get wrong? Very if you are a confused grower and start adding your own nutrients and tend to water your plants every day or 2 days. All it takes is a few times of consecutive over over watering and the nutrients in the MG soil can burn the roots and kill the plant completely.

Well, today was the first time I felt confident enough to flush my MG MC 6mo... It was a good thing I did as I was experiencing some salt toxicity. Got this from fighting root aphids (got them quick) which required some soil drenching and drying out and what not...but the salt build up was pretty bad... the first TDS reading was almost 2000 ppm. I flushed until I got down to 340 ppm and tried to get ph back to 6.5. I noticed, while I was using tap water with a ph of 9.5 , that the ph would stay around 5.9 to 6.0. This is why MG users really have to use cal/mag a lot more specially since the soil keeps dropping down. I have roots organic for my next soil as it does not have the moisture holding material, but it still uses peat (which I understand is a hot ingredient in the soil). It will be interesting to see if I can keep the roots up around 6.5. The girl is recovering and still has a bad cal/mag deficiency... but it looks like P, cal, and mag all need around 6.5 or greater for soil uptake... It will be interesting to see if I can keep on top of it with periodic Epson salts spray before bed time. I hope I have better luck with roots... looks like I will be going with FFoF next purchase. I have four 5 gallon smart pots and the roots will only be enough to fill two of them... so the other two I will try FFoF. Out of all the soils that I have come across on the forums, FFoF seems to be the route to go. Will reply again as she recovers from her flushing and getting more Epson salt foliage feedings.
