Sight glasses are worth investment. Dry run n reclaim all solvent before ever puting thru material as all solvents have a bit of other "stuff". "Molecule filters will not full prevent residues". Dry ice n alcohol are worth it in reclaim time. Check every part of extractor unit with "snoop" or other gas leak detectors. Dont use soap n water, butane n water are volatile/explosive/reactive. Natural occouring terps can be used as solvent. Low temps are always better dont rush. Read about procedure before ever attempted or results could be fatal.

Agreed, as long as you get one designed for the application, but can be dangerous with the wrong design in the wrong application.

Ummmm, how are butane and water volatile/explosive/reactive? Link/source?

Take liquid butane an h20 put them together observe..please explain inproper application of sight glass. Meaning?

When h20 n butane mix it becomes unstable an more voltile then it already is. I guess u wouldnt explode but for safety n ur extracts quality keep h2o out/away from extract. Humidity is h20! Perspiration can cause flawed consistencies. Wax thats oily.wet. Etc.

Nothing happens other than the butane boils away when I do it. What happens when you do it?

A tubular sight glass has the glass in tension, rather than compression, so is pressure limited. Under 6" and over one atmosphere pressure falls under ASME piping, and for LPG should be rated at a minimum of 350 psi.

A tubular sight glass included as a structural member, puts undue stress on it when you move it around, and is even more vulnerable as you thermally cycle it with the cold LPG,

Instant evaporation of all my solvent when h20 touched n butane.. Would they sell sight glasses with low psi ratings? U should never have to exceed like 50 psi. Have u had a sight glass failure before? I dont use inline sight glass but instead on my collection vat to peer into my unit when i pour to see where gas liquid levels are at. 1 to not overfill. 2 to not under recover.
