Tipping your Delivery Driver...

So...over the last several years we've seen many pizza/chinese/etc delivery places implement a delivery fee...sometimes it goes to the driver, but sometimes not...now the question is...

Do you take the delivery fee in to account when you tip? How much are we tipping these days? I just tipped a guy 2.43 + 2 dollar delivery fee, on a 16.57 pizza...am i being too much of a jew? :D

i think it is ridiculous these days too. often times i pick up just so i don't have to deal with tipping. i think they shoud charge a 2 dollar feee and say NO TIPs OR they should just let people tip. asking for both is stupid.

In no way, shape or form do I have a problem with tipping. It should be law that you have to tip and deliberately under-tipping should be punishable by death!!!

I always tip a few bucks, and if the dude (or dudette) looks like a smoker, I'll hand him a nug, too. My pizzas always get here quick and hot.

i usually tip around 5 bucks. my shit is never late or fucked with so whatever. gas is expensive and the wear and tear on the car and speeding tickets aren't worth the hourly wage. i tip the same whether or not there is a delivery fee. honestly most of the time i'm not even aware if there's a fee. how much and how long, that's all i ask.

For me, the amount I tip depends on speed of delivery and if it's still hot. The Chinese guys are always here in less than 30 minutes with HOT food. They get at least $5. Other stuff is hit or miss, so it varies, but I always tip something.

i only live a half a block from the pizza place. it doesnt' make sense for me to get delivery. it ends up costing me $4 extra on a $12 pizza. that's a big % of the cost. a pizza really only costs a couple bucks to make when you think about it, dough, tomatoes, cheese.

Depends on the flour used in the dough...the tomatoes used for the sauce...the spices...the cook and preperation time, the type and amount of cheese, etc, etc...there is alot that actually goes into a good pizza. I buy frozen pizza dough thats in a ball, thaw it out, grease up a pizza screen and layer on classico tomato and basil spaghetti sauce, and shittons of cheese when i make it myself and it adds up to at least $6-7 in ingredients and energy to cook it...but its a decent pie :D

Most of those guys are buying their ingredients in bulk. Look at little Ceasars, 5.00 bucks for a pie. You know it only costs them about a buck or two to make it.

Personally I don't buy from all these fast food style pizza chains. I get pizza made by real Italians with the best ingredients. Two slices and you stuffed kinda pizza. So yeah I tip them well and they don't impose a delivery fee.

I always tip, but I do take into account the time it takes you to get here..... If you are quick, you can expect $5-7... if your late.... you can expect $2 bucks..... especially at a restaurant.

THE COST OF DELIVERING THE FOOD IS ALLREADY ADDED ONTO THE PRICE ANYWAY , IF THEY COULDNT AFFORD TO DELIVER YOUR FOOD THEY WOULDNT OFFER DELIVERY ,

when i make pizza, i make it much ebtter with higher quality ingredients too. i use multiple types of cheese and good quality cheese, not feed lot cow shit cheese.

when i order, i know they are giving me shit ingredients for the most part. unless i order an organic pie from this one place but they charge a $4 delivery fee and u have to tip the driver. it ends up costing me $30 to get one of those pizzas & they only feed 2 people at the most (and both r still hungry afterwards).

the smartest way is to make it yourself. dough costs about a buck, tomatos a buck and cheeses r expensive but if you buy once, you can make a few pies.

fuck these people and their $2 pizza, selling it to me for $12 and wanting a $5 tip for driving one block! usually it's a sloppy greese covered pie that wasn't cooked long enough.
