Thoughts on 6"hyper fan??

Looking at purchasing the original 6" hyper fan. Looking for avdice or opinions to buy this or another brand. I am only planning on running the fan at 1/3 speed . Stealth is key closely followed by power consumption.
Thanks

I like mine and have been using them for 3 years with no problems.

However my cheap active air 6" fan on a speed controller moves measurably more air and can be turned down to be quieter just fine.

I like the light small hyper fan for inline attached to my air cooled hoods.

I found that the entire hyper fan range makes an annoying whining noise when you set the speed to a low setting. Much louder than the noise created by moving air. I ended up going for the stealth version which I cannot fault, bar the price.

If stealth is key don't buy a fan with a built in fan speed controller. They hum. Buy a bigger fan than you need and turn it right down with a variable transformer. Use bigger ducting and a bigger filter. That all costs more but better you spend more to start than something that hums and bugs the shit out of you.

I agree with the above. I technically only needed a 6" fan but opted for the 8" version so I could run it on a very low setting & still get the air movement I wanted. The Hyper fan are EC fans though so a variac will not work on them. The noise they make at low speed is similar to that of a jet engine at low speed. I think the noise is there what ever speed setting you use, its just at higher speeds the air movement noise masks the noise the fan itself makes, unless you buy the stealth version of course.
I have a friend who could not afford the stealth version so has an 8" wrapped in multiple blankets. Obviously not as effective as the stealth model noise wise but from behind a closed door is inaudible.

I like mine too, it can be at bit nosy at 100%

also be careful of the pin connectors.

they are pretty low watts too, so if you tryin to cram everything on a single 15a this helps.

the blue color is cool too!

they are more $$ though.

Yeah I forgot to mention the power consumption. As SoOLED pointed out these have a really low wattage draw. On low, less than a light bulb. My 8" is on low & draws just under 10w!
But yeah listen to one before buying a non stealth version otherwise you may find the noise a bit of an issue.

I have a 6", it's quite a bit louder than the centrifugal fan that it replaced. It is much smaller and lighter, and uses 1/4 of the power of the fan it replaced.

if one built a grow cab with veg area below, flowering on top,can one fan with the right ducting efficiently work for both areas? bad idea?

IMG_20170618_155005434.jpg I originally replaced my maxcan fan pro (170w) with a hyperfan (75w). I now have 2 8" hyperfans for intake/exhaust and out carbon filter and 1 6" hyperfan hooked to a carbon filter and UV light as a scrubber. I dialed everything down until I have a little bit of negative pressure in the room and the whole system pulls less than 175 watts. I am also using the wall as my ducting. The 8" intake is pulling air from 1' off the ground, thru a pre-filter to the top of the room. The 8" exhaust is taped straight to the filter and into the attic. The 6" fan also uses the wall and pulls air off the ground, up the wall past the UV light (kills anything that pass it) and into the small carbon filter.

I use hyper fans and they move plenty of air and save on the leccy. As others have mentioned they do have an annoying hum if you run them at less than 50% so choose one that you will run at 80% or more and you are golden. My 10 inch is fairly loud but what 10 inch fan isnt. I just insulated my room well and outside the room it is hardly audible.

I took the plunge and bought the 6" version. I'm only growing in 2x4x5 tent so I think it will be plenty. I am planning on pulling through the filter and exhausting. I'm debating making an enclosure for the fan but will determine if it is necessary; I am a contractor so I should be able to rig up something nice..I could not test before buying, had to have it shipped across the country to me. All the fans at the local shops weren't up to par. Wondering if sounds dampening foam at the exhaust end would silence the "air flow noise" or if it would cause to much stress on the system?? Thoughts ¿

Power draw is key for me. Not trying to pay someone else for my medical needs. My whole system should draw around 200w when fully set up. My led drawing around 170w alone is giving me great results. I'm banking on the 10w draw of the hyper fan. That with 15w for my clip fan, I'm looking around 200w... My babe is all alone, scroged,LST, mainlined, and topped.. f**king freak of nature she is ;) canopy pushing 3'6" wide and 2' back in the tent. She's on track to push out a nice bounty.
