top her about half way and then have that light almost touching the girl she wont grow up so much after that

if you did not use the proper cloning methods your top is a stick in the mud! correct cut, rooting hormone, humidity, If i were you i would read read read read..seriously i mean u are dealing with the easiest part of growing

I do agree with you about the whole "stick in the mud" comment but, I have 2 out of three.....humidity and the correct cut.... I dont have any rooting hormone.

Lets get one thing straight.....I have read a ton of info on this....and everything I've read, including shit load of other peoples' grow logs, say that it's easy as hell to grow a plant, under proper condition, to full completion in a space smaller that the one i'm currently using. She was growng perfect in the veg. cycle and for the first week and a half of flower( short, fat, and full of life). It just started shooting WAY up about a week and a half ago. I was forced to keep moving up the lights as she kept growing passed them..so, I did the best i could, including, following "Seemorebuds" book to the tee....day by day. Watering (PH was perfect), lighting, humidity, soil conditioning (preped the pot exactly like he said too)....Freakn' Everything Dude!! Nothing in all the infomation i've read tells you what to do to STOP her from growing up through the lights.....I know what you are going to say " should have LST'ed her".....Screw that!! I shouldnt have to..she should have been short, fat, and thick with bud!!!! according to all I've read....and I say again, I have read quite a bit on this and it just didnt turn out like a ton of people said it would!! (I"m not blaming anyone for anything...i take FULL responcability for my growing mistakes)

Mine did that - I was hanging a grow light above them and suddenly one of them shot up...I ended up getting it as far away from the light as possible (about 3 inches) and so got burnt sugar leaves, the bud itself got singed a bit...i had to tape the plant to the side of the cupboard to stop the main bud from physically leaning against the light - having said that, that top bud got bloody big!

I actually had to chop the plant in half to hang it it was that tall...having said that, I think the end result should be good! I DO feel a bit sorry for the poor thing though - I had to trim a bit of the actual BUD when trimming coz it got burnt and crispy...

I was not trying to anger you my friend, there is only ONE reason a plant will cup like that and stretch yet still be healthy. The plant is using all its energy to maintain its growth and it is reaching for photosyntyhess, to store, to feed the plant to grow while it is in darkness, your plant is 100%%%% straved for lumens! Fix that and you solve the problem. Go bye a 300w cfl, put it 3 inches from the top, your plant will change in 12 hours

Thx Bro, I'll def. try to do that. I'm not at all pissed at you or anyone else here, this is all good advice. I'm just kinda pissed with my own results especially, after investing over a month of time and constant care.
Right now I've got 225w (9 x 25w 2700k) surounding her and she seems to be doing ok. the top that i cut off and replanted, which looked just about dead last night, has really perked up and is look decent...i'll try to get some pics today, if anyone is interested.

BTW...where would one even buy a 300w CFL? I've bought all of my equipment locally and the biggest i've seen around here is like 80w....and its huge...lol

I had a streach problem 1st time around. I topped durring flowering and added more lights. I got these floro's tubes from walmart made by G&E. They say they are made for plants and growing. They are cheap so I bought four of them and 2 floro tube shop ballasts for them. It cost me 30 bucks. It added alot more light and I had great success with them and the CFL's. Some people will say i am wrong and you should use HPS and MH lights but I have great success with floro's and CFL's. When I have to top at any time I always throw some super thrive into the equation. It is not a nute. It is a vitamin and hormone aid. It works for me when my plants get to stressed. I also now use DWC... Its is a lot easier then you would think and you can make your own system. Very cheap and you can find everything you need to help on this site. Good luck and your doing the right thing by asking questions. I have had people help a lot on this site. Do not get your self down. Even on this site you'll catch some people on a bad day and they will become nasty and kick you while your down. Just ignore them and educate your self on ever subject you become curious about. Knowledge equals intellect. Intellect equals the understanding of knowledge. Happy farming.

That is a great quote man. im a big wattage user myself. But!! with limited space, heat issues dadadada.. cfls are the way to go.. infact i still use T8's for my veg plants and T5's for my mom's.. i need the extra wattage for my 4x8 flower room with 3 dimmable 1000w..

Bottom line is you need more light, some strains stretch more then others, even strains of the same type! One can have more Sativa in it then Indica (if it's a mutt, which 99% of strains are now a days) How hot has it been in there? Heat, lack of light and root bound plants all get real leggy.....

And all this BS about CFL's producing no heat is just ridiculous. I have grown with CFL.... 400 watts of CFL and they are just as hot as a 400 watt hps.... Same watts, same energy being burned which gives off the same heat. You really need to get the temps in check with lower intensity lighting....

lmao plague dog..you are funny your trying to tell me my current box throws off as much hesat as my friends 100w hps,, u r INCORRECT!! and i have a 1000 watts of cfl! he has to have vacum sucking air out constantly, he needs 3 fans. i use one fan and one mini pc fan for my air extractor. NO COMPARISON ON HEAT! yes cfl's give off heat, plenty, lmao, so if they are the same then why cant you put your hps or mh one inch from the plant like i do with my 300w cfl's..um lets see beceause they are not nearly as hot! not picking a fight but we use cfl's due to the heat issue and such..

when you bent it over and it "gave way," you essentially super-cropped it. you should have left it, it would kept growing the direction of the bend and you wouldn't have sacrificed any bud. i guess it's too late now, but you should still get something.

Yeah right. LOL

You are trying to tell me 1000 watts of CFL is less heat then a 100 watt hps. Give me a break. I have grown with them both and CFL's get plenty hot. Most people just cant afford to setup an HiD grow so they think "cooler" cfl's will do the trick. Well they work, just lest all stop like they dont put out any heat, because that is Bullshit.

And I am juyst trying to give the guy sound advice, it wont be much harder to cool a 400 watt REMOTE ballast HPS over 400 watts of CFl. You want to know why I know? BECAUSE I HAVE GROWN WITH BOTH...Have you?

And you HAVE to put CFL's close to your plants for a reason, they are to damn weak to grow anything substancial without doing so because they lack intensity. If you guys think you can yeild more per watt with CFL over HiD, you haven't grown with HiD.....

Just the facts that countless new growers have learned after they make the switch.

I am not knocking CFL, I use them for my veg cab, I am just saying once you go big you wont go back.
