Speakling of those I saw this guy in KFC with the really old giant Madonna phone headset on. He was wearing the thing while trying to eat. He has the mic swiveled up above his head.

We could not stop laughing and he had to know we were laughing at him since his table and our table were the only ones with people at them.

What a loser. Glad he got to feel all important.

You know I wonder if those bluetooth adapters do it too... lol

Seriously.. i'm all for anyone smoking as much pot as anyone possibly can as often as one can.. but I think some people here, need to just lay it down, and go outside.. conspiracy theory was just a movie... Asfar as cell phones and tumors.. over half the world has cell phones now.. as a matter of fact, I don;t own one and I get looked at like i'm a wako by the homeless skitzo on the corner.. with that said.. who here knows of one person who has a brain tumor that can be linked back to teh use of cell phones?

I've actually seen video of a guy bursting into flames from pumping gas while on his phone. It is true.

It can also be caused by static electricity.. if you pump your gas, sit in teh car and slide out and touch teh door or any metal on the pump while you've been charged with static electricity it could blow up..the cellphone causing an explosion is only if you're staning next to it and the phone rings.. but you could also have children with Oprah and never have to work again in your life.. I think the odds of any of these scenarios ever playing out are about the same.. so I wouldnt buy a crib no time soon

Once upon a time I was a cellular phone network technician with one of the big companies. We could do lots of things like APPROXIMATE your location based on signal strength, figure out what direction you are travelling in based on changes in signal strength, and listen in while you are making a call (for maintenance purposes only of course). In addition, I would very rarely be required to cooperate with some law enforcement agency (local agencies only, never worked with feds for a wiretap or to identify the location a call originated from, did this 2x in 4 years in a metropolitan area of 4 million people). It is also worth mentioning that standard cellular radio frequency maintenance equipment can be used to listen to calls within a given proximity, illegal for civillians, ok for phone comany technicians, requires warrant/official paperwork for LE). When not in active use but turned on your cell phone transmits a period keep alive signal (mobile identification number MIN and electronic serial number ESN) to the network which is routed through a national system that says your phone is available to receive calls and what cell tower you are closest to. It does not transmit voice when not actively involved in a call. To do so would overtax the wireless network. If the FBI has the capability to remotely activate your phone and eavesdrop I have never seen it and there is NO WAY they could do it without the help of the phone company technicians (as in need official paperwork), I repeat NO WAY, the network is much to fucking complicated for them to pull that off alone. While whispering fuck you Bush into your phone might be palliative for the disaster that has been the last 8 years it is unlikely he will receive your message.

I'm still saying fuck you Bush anyway. Just on the off chance that he's listening. LOL

Our rights are being stripped away one after another. I've been watching it go that way for years. I remember protesting the seatbelt law when they started that back in the 80's. People were really against that one.

A girl here in town had a semi pull out in front of her. She flung herself down on the seat and the trailer of the truck took the whole top off her car. Had she been seatbelted she would have been decapitated.

That happened about a month before the seatbelt law took effect. If that crash happened one month later, she'd be dead.

I'm calling bullshit on this. If your phone is off, how is there power to this supposed "tracking device" -- additionally, if your phone (even just the cell network access) is off, there is no signal being sent to or from the 800/900/1800/1900 frequency network.

Did you go watch the Youtube video?

You could at least play along and whisper "fuck you bush, fuck you homeland security" into your phone at night anyway. :bigjoint:

Come on it'll be neato.....

I watched the YouTube video... and no, i'm not going to entertain the idea of whispering things into my phone because I think it's bullshit. Since when has Fox news ever been a reliable source of information? I'm nearly 100% certain that if you have network coverage disabled, there is no way for data to get in or out of the device unless you have bluetooth, or wifi enabled. Even then you will need to sync with the phone, or connect to the phone via WiFi.

Anyone could say any organization could listen to your calls... Don't you know the most trusted source of bad information is these news channels? I'll need proof before I believe this lie. :dunce: :cuss:

OH, that was Faux news? I didn't pay attention to that. Hhhmm, now me needs to re-think the situation.

I'm still whispering into my phone at night, I haven't anything better to do. It's fun and it makes my husband laugh and laughter is good for the soul.

Funny you should write that about the seat belt law. I left my job as a telecomm switch technician and now work as an RN in a surgical trauma ICU in a level 1 trauma center. It is true that there are a lot of injuries caused by seat belts, mostly splenic and liver lacerations from sudden deceleration/compression from the belt itself. These are scant in number and acuity compared to the injuries caused by not wearing a seat belt. These include many but most notably head trauma and high speed ejection. I have also noticed (no study data on this) that the people least likely to wear seat belts are those who don't have insurance and their tab gets picked up by the taxpayers. To reiterate and clarify, everyone gets treated regardless of insurance status in the event of trauma, the most severe, frequent, and expensive injuries are typically seen in patients not wearing seatbelts, and all of us share in the payment for their treatment. While any sort of law governing behaviour of responsible adults is generally a bad idea, I am tired of picking up the medical tab for morons who don't need to work because they are on welfare and then act like fools and get hurt and/or hurt others. My take is lock these fuckers up for the most minute infraction and make the world a safer place.
