about 550 bucks for the 500 watt model. The price on the 240 is like 279 now I believe. Kush is a primary example of what it can do individually, Tshirtninja as well.
I can't think of a better way to supplement. Especially using a MH instead of an HPS. I used HPS for my last grow with the LEDS as a supplement, and the results were awesome, but they didn't quite look like this. The LED's fill out the missing red spectrum and the MH pumps the blue spectrum up to keep the leaves nice and green. Also MH (mines a 1000W 7000K bulb I got for 50 bucks) puts out a ton more UV then HPS. The yield is comparable to the HPS as far as I can tell this far in. This is my first organic grow, and my first time using ten gallon tubs, so there is a bit of experimentation and some new variables going on here...We'll see what the yield is shortly.

Alright, next grow is going to be a good one... 5 De Sjamans White Widow, 1 G13 Gigabud, 1 G13 Purple Haze, and 5 Nirvana White Widow...
but heres the kicker...Just purchased 2 400W CMH grow lights from HTG and I'm going to mix them with the blackstars...400W HID to 270(ish) watts of LED per grow room (outside of the veg room)...Ill post a link to the journal later when I get the equip in the mail and set it up. The seeds are already germed...I think I am going with 5 Gallon buckets like my second grow. Primarily organic, my normal Medium, ect.. ect.. ect... More to come...

I currently just set the rasp. cough and Ice to 12/12 last night to two months to go on them...

I notice you're using the Blackstar LED set up. Was curious to know if it's a brand you would recommend. I plan to pick up two soon and would like to hear your experience with them and why you went with Blackstar.

Well, I was hesitant about blackstars at first, luckily when I went back to NY I went to their store (gotham hydro) and saw them first hand. Figured it produced a shit load of light, at the right spectra, so why not?
After doing research I came to the conclusion that all the LED retails claim the same thing, and claim the same success, and charge a fuck load of money. My budget wasn't exactly limitless so the price was definitely a factor.
They produce next to no heat (surface temp was 100F on the diodes - nothing a very light fan wont negate), but this ended up being a big problem as my grow room is pretty chilly. I had to use the LED's as supplemental lighting as I relied on HID for heat output (didn't really think that one out too much before hand). I'm very happy with them.
I began to like the idea of mixing HID and LED, It makes a ton of sense, what the led lacks in footprint, hid make up. What HID lacks in targeted spectra, LED's make up. Its a nice mix. Im not trying to see what is the best light to mix with LED's. I have tried HPS, MH, and now will try CMH.
Im hoping the 288W of LED and 400W of CMH will work out to 1000W HPS of PAR. We'll see. I'll have 3 rooms. 1 will just a 400W CMH for veg (haven't bought that light yet), the next will be 1 400W CMH with a 500W Blackstar (288W draw), and the other will be 1 400W CMH with 2 240W (270ishW Draw for the both of them combined) Blackstars flanking it.
LED's are second to none as supplemental lighting. There a gentleman on here, Kush Groove, who is having a phenominal all blackstar LED grow, which I would check out if you are interested.
