thinking of trying dwc

hey guys, ive been having good success with a soil medium under my 1000w hps.

im getting tired of working with soil in my room, the transplants, the slow process of watering them (takes a while watering 4 5 gallon pots, pain in the ass and makes a mess) on top of all that, harvest clean up is a true pain.

so im in between crops right now and im thinking of converting to a dwc or rdwc setup. i have alot of the stuff already (air pumps, inline pump, bunch of uniseals tons of airstones, ph meter, ppm meter and an ro filter) i plan on using the general hydroponics nutes line.

im nervous i dont really want to ruin my plants. but im dying to try dwc so i think im gonna attempt it.

thinking of starting my seeds in soil n then cloning them into dwc.. that way in case they die i can try again.

any thoughts, input or suggestions? is dwc a good intro to hydro?

Yes.
Lots of ways to do it, all pretty easy. I keep mine really simple. 5gal buckets, 6in net pot lids, hydroton clay pellets.
I recommend lots and lots of air in the water, Mine looks like it's at a hard boil.

I personally prefer rDWC, but standard DWC is good too. Just three things you cannot ignore with any kind of hydro... pH , the oxygen content of your water, and water temp. If you let any of those variables get out of control for any length of time and things can get very bad very quickly.

R/dwc is sweet except its reliability. By reliability i mean when u get root diseases will u make it out or shout lol. Now many will say theyve been trouble free, but ALL will say it can happen anytime, under any conditions with no warnings. I prefer promix. Id do both.

I recently went from soil to dwc myself, starting out, it's a bitch. But I am now 4 weeks in flower and dam, my grow has never looked better. It is time consuming and I take a lot of notes to compare things one day to the next. I was extremely worried about changing to dwc, but I don't think I will go back now that I'm starting to understand it better. I say go for it.

if you have 10 minutes every morning 7 days a week when lights come on to top off your res and adjust ph then i say try it
if you have a life and cant spend that much time in your garden don't try it that's my opinion
