I've seen 1.4g/w from LEDs but I have yet to see evidence of a 2g/w grow with anything. I said evidence. I've seen about as much evidence for 2g/w as I have for proof of God's existence (said the atheist, baiting the theists for no reason) - I'd love to see a mildly convincing grow journal of 2g/w out of any system.
I'll second that. Goes triple for claims of 3g/W!

Spectrum King Online Yield reports

#1 John Berfelo : 219.1 grams 0.55gpw


#2 Sir Sly: 255g per light (510g from 2 SK, incl trim) 0.63gpw


#3 SK in house grow: 812g (60deg refl model) 1.8 gpw


#4 Nester Nomad : 448g 1.0 gpw


#5 DrJ 303: 700g 1.22 gpw (weight not proven in video, discussed in YT comments)



If anyone can find other growers proving their yields online, please post, I would love to see some more results.

@Stephenj37826 I just wanted to put the information out there, and let others draw their own conclusions. I'm sure more than half the people around here have grown blue dream at some point. I grew it almost exclusivity for about a year. And it was pretty magical in the yield department. But I agree, it is peculiar that the in house yield results are in a different stratosphere than any other customer grows.

I can see 1 g/w but that would be tops in my opinion. If you look up xbd the highest bin available is r3. Unless there is 1000 leds per fixture then I just can not see anything over 105 lm/w.

Those plants in the video were pretty massive (5-6') and had tons of room to grow vertically. They were not nearly as limited in terms of their growing space. I didn't see the plant count but if any of those plants yielded between 4 and 6 oz, I could see that yield no problem (if the intensity is there as it is claimed). 1.8 lbs is just shy of 29 oz

They secretly rolled out 10000 Watts of 12W CFLs when the cameras were off. :trollface:

So my grow store received the new Spectrum King SK400+ today. Just wanted to clear up any misconceptions or misinformation about this product.
This will probably break some hearts... So first off, the SK does NOT use Cree XB-D's and as far as I can tell does not use Cree XM-L2 either (possibly Easy White). From what I can tell and by looking up Cree's Chips one by one, they "appear" to in fact be Cree MK-R chips. Now for those of you who don't know, Cree MK-R chips are capable of up to 200 Lumens per Watt. Also there is an assortment of what looks like Red/Deep Red/Far Red individual dies.

You can see in the picture the circuit board says "Spectrum King by Brightlight LED."

I will take some PAR readings at ranging distances in our 4x4 tent over the next few days and post the results.
Some observations that I have noticed is that the SK seems much visibly brighter than the Sun Systems 315 LEC that we previously had in the tent. I will take some PAR readings from the LEC as well to try to give a good comparison of approximate wattage.

Looks like 40x MK-R (1st gen), 14x XP-E2 (probably red, could be amber) and 2 XP-E (probably photo red or far red, could be red or amber). If they're top bins, SK is in the game.

Can you measure the actual input?

Did they change the LED or have we been misinformed the whole time?

If these are driven at 400 watts total it still puts lumen/watt at ~ 130. Not terrible but not end all be all either. As far as I can tell it might be the new 400+. They used to advertise that they used xb-d. This is probably a revision.

they updated their chips, it definitely was cree xbd last year.............I highly doubt top group/bin mk-r , mucho $$$$$$$$

I remember SK saying that they revamped their components when they released the "plus" model.
I would imagine a company endorsed by Cree would probably get quite the discount on their chips...

I've actually never seen any literature or documentation where SK lists what kind of chips they use... I figured that's why everybody was guessing and nobody really knew. The chips I've heard SK talk about using are "top bin Cree diodes" but nothing specific.

I would put your notepad and calculator down for a minute and wait for the real world data to come... The output will be tested with a PAR meter and the power consumption will be tested with a WATT meter.
