Think i just got fired!!!!!!!!

soooo i think i just got fired from my shitty job. First i work in a grocery store with the job title maintenance which entails nothing to do with maintenance but rather stocking shelves unloading trucks and pretty much every single department managers job so they can do god knows what while i bust my ass....

now that would be fine cause hey i live in a small hick town right now with no work and have kept this miserable job for 2 years...did i mention with 3 raises i now make a whopping 7.40 an hour lolololololol.

fast forward to an hour ago, the store owner who comes in everyday and gets in the way, well this douche pulls me aside in front of 2 people and starts in on me about how he was in thanksgiving day and in his opinion i was doing alot of walking around and doing nothing, oh but the departmentr i was working looked great he said???? then he has the nerver to also tell me one of the managers says i do an unsatisfactory job in working her back stock wtf???? 1st my fucking job is maintenance not fucking grocery second i told him not to play with me that he is well aware what goes on in here and that i do more than my share for this piece of shit minimum wage job, and proceeded to tell him that i would now be clocking out and leaving and if he had a problem with it to write me up or call the union hall(yes we are union)
Told him he had no grounds to fire me and that if he did and tried to fight my unemployment he would lose...which he then told me he wouldn't play those games with me blah blah blah and if i walk away ......
just told him make your mind up what you wanna do cause im not standing here and listening to his shit owner or not.


so you think the douche bag can possibly let his ego go and not fire me.... I don't think he will be able to see me everyday without it being a problem.
i called the union hall and they said fuck him that my job title is maintenance and that they had zero action if he fired me that i could either get my job back or just take unemployment.

think unemployment sounds good especially when the minimum is close to my pay anyways....

There are better jobs out there, after all you was looking for one when you landed in that shit hole..

Did you clock out because you were finished with work or because you just wanted to leave early because of this guy? If you left early that would be one reason he could fire you legitimately. It is better to get the union involved before you take any action initially.

If you're going to go on unemployment, take the opportunity to find a way to maybe to get certified in something so you make more than the unlivable $7.40 an hour. If you're making 7.40 an hour and you're unionized, that union is just stealing money from you through union dues. A union's job is to fight for living wages and good conditions for it's workers, and if you're making 7 bucks an hour, they're not doing their job.

God nailed that one. I was in a union for years. They did nothing for me. Boss's pull shit like that all the time. Just a power trip. All the grocery store managers I know ( I'm in the buisness) make at least $125,000 the owners are beyond rich. My hats off to you Urban. Good luck.

.....did u sign a contract................if u did it has all the parts of your job included in it .........if stocking the shelf and all that stuip stuff is not part of it ......they fired u for unjust cuases and u are able to file a suit against the ppl

my father works in home depot and they tried to do the same shit with him (getting to do extra work and MOD work that he should not be doing ) he flat out told them that he is not going to do it anymore with out a 5 buck a hour pay raise .............it was not in his contract as his job duties so they could not force him to do it nor could they fire him for refusing to do it

it is simple if u need the job and it is the only one out there head over and tell them falt out u fired me for unjust cuase and i am filing suit ................that will freak the ppl out since they did fire u for no reason with your job as fixing stuff only u are not a floor stocker or a sales persons .................then u add in u are going to contact the news ppl and report the actions of the owner to them (bad press is something no one wants ) and if the story is not picked up .........take out a AD in the paper

ppl that have a little power over other ppl become real assholes sometimes ..............only way to win is be the biggest asshole in the room so they back down .............he took it to firing u ........u take it to lawsuit for firing for unjust cuases

i did leave 90 minutes early but all he can do is write me up and i told him that. more like get to writing and then told him he couldn't fire me either way without first due process which our contract says 3 write ups in any given period yet i have 1 in the last 2 years soo....just wish my record wasn't so shitty.

on the bright side replacing a minimum wage job doesn't leave room for anything but equal pay or an upgrade.

The union president said since my job title is maintenance that technically i do not have to lift a finger for anything but that and while i have no problem helping others i do have a problem with being chastised and belittled for helping someone else or i guess not helping someone else enough.

unemployment is 50 bucks less a week then i make now so guess it could be worse......DAB TIME

thanks guys just reassures that letting someone belittle you when it doesn't even apply is definitely not worth $7.40 but telling the millionare owner of the company that he can go fuck himself= priceless

only thing i will do is fight for my unemployment if need be though i don't think so since i even told him good luck fighting my unemployment because you didn't follow due process. His response was he wouldn't play those games with me hahahaha.

the funny thing is u will win ............laws have been changed he has to work.....u just have to learn the new laws and use them

it can come down that he breached the agreement with u by asking u to do other jobs and then makes a hostile work place by reeming u out infront of other ppl
get your work contract and have a look at it all your jobs will be spelled out in it .............i have done your job for mickey ds was getting 12 a hour and alls i did was fix and do the land scaping ..............from the sound of it he had u at a cheap price and doing 2 ppls jobs (fixing and stocking)


and i am not lawsuit happy ........it is just the method u ppl accept as civil and correct

I belong to the slackers union. We don't pay dues. Too much work they say. I don't do any actual work per se but its hard work I know that. I think I make about 50K a year but I've never really looked at my paycheck, its just too much hassle. I get direct deposit anyway so I don't have to waste time in long lines at the bank. What a nightmare. I work bankers hours. I get a two hour lunch and two breaks a day. Each break is supposed to be only an hour but I've been taking an extra half hour lately and no one has said anything about it yet so I suppose its ok. I have a very nice corner office. I have the best boss anyone could have, but frankly I've never met him. I don't even know where his office is. Now that I think of it there's no one here but me. All the other offices are empty. The phones just keep ringing and ringing. They should really hire someone to do that because I'm not here to answer phones. No sir, its not in my job description, which is in one of these desk drawers somewhere I think. But I've never even opened these drawers so I'm not really sure.

I'm presently working on a proposal for ah, something I don't remember what exactly. I have plenty of time to do it though I know that. So I'll start on it tomorrow or the next day. Today though I set aside so I could get all these dam pencils sharpened. I have exactly twelve pencils to sharpen. That's a lot I know but I can handle it. That's why I get paid the big bucks. There have been some setbacks. For one, I don't have a pencil sharpener. So I'll have to fill out an office supply form to get one. But before I do that I need to find the forms. I wonder where they keep them. I'll do that first thing tomorrow. I'll find a form and fill it out. Maybe I could get an assistant to do it. I'm pretty busy already, I can't do everything. And I'm sure its not in my job description anyway even if I did know which drawer it was in. My head is spinning. All these decisions I have to make and all this thinking is making me hungry. I think maybe I'll go grab some lunch. Its almost twelve. Well really its only eleven but who's counting. Too much trouble on second thought. Maybe I'll eat in I'm just swamped with work.

Clocking out and leaving during your regularly scheduled work hours could be construed as a voluntary resignation, ie job abandonment. You might want to check on that. Good luck with this.

Managers do alot more than the regular bottom rung staff. They supervise, do quality control, schedule the shifts, check stock, order more stock, customer assistance, resolve conflicts, and so on...
