LoL! It reminds me of reefer maddness. Last time I checked NOONE I have smoked with or been around would be dumb enough to watch someone attempt to rape and then kill someone and think they did it themselves.

Sounds like a government funded study with absolutely no medical value.

quote:
Part of the explanation for this effect is that people who use marijuana are at higher risk for mental problems even without the drug, Zammit explained. "Nevertheless, even when these factors were adjusted for, there still remained an association between marijuana and psychosis, which suggests that there is a causal relationship there," he added.

Uh, that's like the chicken and the egg and which came first game at best.

It only shows that people prone to mental disorder are likely to look for some form of relief and that may mean trying marijuana. Brilliant link there...

*sigh* That article isn't even worth talking about. The media is so full of shit that most people dont even know that we are killing innocent people in a tax-funded war or that marijuana is the most useful and harmless drug the world has ever known...

I seriously think monkeys are going to take over the world...

Dunno...I've felt pretty retarded at times. :D

Besides the fact that Marijuana DOES NOT kill brain cells like
meth, cocaine, crack, alcohol...

Fact: There is no convincing scientific evidence that marijuana causes psychological damage or mental illness in either teenagers or adults. Some marijuana users experience psychological distress following marijuana ingestion, which may include feelings of panic, anxiety, and paranoia. Such experiences can be frightening, but the effects are temporary. With very large doses, marijuana can cause temporary toxic psychosis. This occurs rarely, and almost always when marijuana is eaten rather than smoked. Marijuana does not cause profound changes in people's behavior.

Good point OregonMeds!

Quotes:
"Those who smoked the most marijuana had a twofold to threefold increase in the risk of developing a psychotic problem, Zammit said."
They have no proof of that, because those people haven't got the psychotic problem yet, Zammit's just assuming they're more likely to get it.

"Part of the explanation for this effect is that people who use marijuana are at higher risk for mental problems even without the drug, Zammit explained."
The majority of people are born, just slightly mental/ different thinking to the modern day, 'perfect' human standard. Many tokers, like myself, are the 'creative' sort or the 'intelectual' or 'musical' sort (and the other archetypical types of smoker) and we are the sort of people that like weed to effect our brain for happiness, relaxation, fascination or inspiration. The uptight, 'political' and 'economical' (the boring businessmen) type of people are too serious and not random thinking enough to have as much chance of developing a mental illness. They are the ones put in place to keep the great minds of the world tied down, to make sure the money keeps in their pockets and those who can't just enjoy the natural world for what it is. It takes a mad mind to think a great thought, and thinking of trying bud in the first place shows that we were already a bit mad, but what a great thought we had! :P

"One expert believes the link between marijuana and the risk for psychosis is real"
Wow! One whole 'expert' believes in that made up fairy tale from world hating, power hungry governments long ago.

"This seems to be the best of studies conducted so far, and although this issue could never be proven directly, due to ethical limitations of a prospective exposure study, it provides a solid evidence that smoking cannabis increases risk for the development of psychosis later in life,"
It doesn't provide a solid evidence, because you just said the issue could never be proven.

"said Dr. Adam Bisaga, an associate professor of clinical psychiatry in the Department of Psychiatry, Division on Substance Abuse, at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, in New York City."
There's alot of explanation to what exact job he does and where he does it. Not very well known is he, hahaha just found that part funny. I mean come on, they've probably made that guy up!

Haha well anyway, sorry for going on abit, got the day off, so I kicked the morning off with a bowl :D Just proved how mad I am actually now i've read back through it hahaha
