HI rollitup , when choosing for fruity , sweet aroma strains ( just not like this bitter and skunky smell ) , I search internet and pages say it smell like fruit , sweet , floral , as happy as you could imagine i go and raise these beans and bump , smell spicy , peppery , bitter that could melt your senses , but why ? for example cotton candy strain from delicious seeds , they given information say it smell floral , but real smell is so bitter and peppery , a seedling of this cotton candy is enough to stink up whole house and even far

Hey bax.

Not that ive grown the cotton candy strain. But checking lineage on Leafly shows its a cross between "Power Plant" strain, and "Lavender".
According to Leafly "Power Plant" has a profile of #1 earth #2 pepper #3 wood.
Also says "Lavender" is #1 floral #2 sweet.

Maybe you got a phenotype thats Power Plant dominant?
You may be after a Lavender leaning phenotype?

How many plants did you have?
All seedlings, or clones?
Feminized or regular?

Someone else who's grown the same should probably chime in i think.
I really cant say.
Chances are if the seeds are feminized, its pretty close to how its intended.
Maybe worth asking the seller?

Sorry dude, im not too sure.
Hopefully someone more familiar with the strain can help.

My reefer smells considerably different during each of veg, bloom, drying and curing.
The true character comes out after a nice long cure.
And as mentioned, sometimes the phenotype runs a little different ... lineage plays a role.
You want fruity? Get some Tangie beans or one of the many Tangie crosses.

I Agree totally with drsaltman, After you cure it you should get the smell your looking for, I've grown hundred of strains they all smell a bit different, but after you cure it Properly you will get that fruity smell. Don't fear it will be fine.
Good luck happy grow

I reckon everyone here is right bax.
My favourite seeds have a really sweet creamy espresso bean smell fresh. Almost like coffee and cookies.
But the jar smells like oranges when dry. Sweet oranges. But citrus nonetheless.

Growing seeds outdoors opens up a whole world of possibility too. Ive found outdoor to be amazing like that.
Local climate has a huge effect on terpenes.

No outdoor grow is the same. Even if it were a clone.
Everyone here in this thread, could each take a clone of the same plant. Grow it outdoors, and have a 100% smooth, perfect run. Id guarantee everyones smoke would vary a little. Theres just too many variables outdoors.

On the other hand. If we all did the same indoors, with the same everything. The final product wouldnt vary much at all.

Bird and the bees man. Birds and the bees.

I definitely side with the others, that it'll change once cured.

Best wishes for harvest dude.
You may well find they sweeten up towards the end of bloom too.
Most plants ive grown certainly do.

Besides spice and pepper sounds pretty good to me.:weed:

Id say its not your fault at all.
Everything is to blame on your plant, and your local climate. Its the plants genes doing the talking.
Not you

TBH i dont believe companion planting Lavender will make a difference in smell at all. It wont make it smell like lavender anyway.
Although Lavender in theory wouldnt make a bad companion plant. Soil requirements, and sun requirement are very similar. Not many pests at all like lavender either.
Though upon reading it seems White Fly, and Aphids may. So its something to bare in mind.
Personally i dont think companion planting lavender will really make an ounce of difference to your smoke. Not in the short term anyway.
But at the same time it looks like it wouldnt be a bad companion either.
May even deter a lot of pests.
