Howdy folks, I've missed all my buddies in the forums for the last few months, but there's a good reason! I was building my new site:

THE STRAIN MAN

As many of you have been reading my blog over the last year, it finally grew too large for Blogspot; so while I was moving it it over, why not add the fastest, most comprehensive, and FUN Medical Marijuana Search tool:

There are about 400 Colorado dispensaries listed and many more are adding their listings for FREE daily. There are also hundreds of other MMJ services like head shops, grow stores, mmj insurance, Delivery services, and more. Also, enjoy tons of local strain and dispensary reviews with THE best marijuana photography in the industry.

This is the first site with Strain and Clone search capability, so next time you're looking for something in particular (like me itching for some Sour Diesel the other day), just use the search tool and find it!

Am I the only person who is concerned with the fact that a dispensary can buy a review. I am wondering if this could influence the reviews.

I have been a fan of the Strainman since the beginning, following his recommendations around Denver, Boulder and even Rollinsville. I really hope it remains as straight foward as before.

Very good point! Thanks for raising it. I will continue to do many anonymous 'drop-in' reviews without the knowledge of dispensary owners. This is too much FUN and I can never let that go.

Paid reviews (in all honesty) will be purchased by dispensaries who really believe themselves as very successful and want to show everyone (advertise). Same with Quick Strain Reviews, if ya got something ya wanna show, show it! I decided to allow dispensaries to invite me to their shop for a review because I was getting so many emails each week from dispensaries INVITING me to come on by. In addition to writing about the place, I provide 5 stellar photos with each paid review, so it's an easy way for folks to not only show off their shop, but also get a bunch of high quality photos for their own marketing efforts.

Also, everytime I did a review (good or critical), that generated $$thousands of dollars for the lucky dispensary. One shop in Longmont couldn't even take on new patients for a few weeks cause they got sold out of supply so fast after one of The Strain Man's reviews. (I'm working now on getting that quoted testimonial for my site).

I will always make this distinction for my dear readers by stating something like 'so and so Dispensary ASKED me to come out and check it out' or something like that. If anyone has any ideas or advice around this, please let me know, I'm all ears!

All this said, I decided to drop the grading (A, B, C, etc..) and focus on only written assessments/constructive criticism

Why when I search and specify I want to search California only do I get mostly CO results?

Seems like the search functionality could be more robust.

Thanks for the feedback! I am currently gathering California service listings and will let everyone know when available. Colorado's my home and as I know many folks in the medical marijuana industry here, it was best to start with CO listings.

Also, i'm about to add a strain encyclopedia with lineage and breeder info for about 1200 strong (and growing) strain list. Stay tuned!

Thanks! I know it's also gonna make a bundle for a bunch of medical marijuana service folks, too. Most importantly, the site will help patients find specific strains for their specific medical conditions, clones, and perhaps have fun lookin through all the bud photos a reading strain/dispensary reviews.

And yeah, the best part of all the work was the testing and strain sampling

Just wait friends... am gathering a truckload of anecdotal and scientific research matching specific strains with medical conditions, and absolutely must share that with everyone.

I just had a thought...

It would be mega helpful to have a mobile friendly version of your site. You know, set it up so that the dispensaries are laid out on google maps, that way if I dont have many dispensaries in my local area I can find them on my mobile while out & away from home?

For instance, I am going clone hunting down in the LA area, sure would be sweet to be able to search within X miles of my current location and boom, all the directories were there, with helpful directions via google maps. That way, I can use my GPS instead of my stoner senses to find them.

i searched for michigan dispensaries and never could get any results for there? am i doing something wrong? i don't have a name for a specific dispensary, just wanted to know where some were at compared to where i'm at. (cause i'm not in mich. but close and wanting to see how far i'd have to travel to get to one.)

listings are free, so as soon as other states' dispensaries/mmj services find my site, they can add their info free and in less than a minute.
